Monochrome grey hues are the most common. Bluish fur is seen in some lines though it would be rare for a Phoenix to be primarily a color other than white, grey, or black tones. Markings can be of other colors, though grey, white, and black markings are the most common.

Heterochromia: This is one of the defining features of the Phoenix line. All members of the Phoenix family has complete heterochromia; having eyes of two different shades of the same color (most of the time).

However, Alvira Phoenix and her daughter, Adrestia Phoenix, also have central heterochromia as well as complete heterochromia. Adrestia also has eyes of two different colors with a completely different colored pupil rings.

The Phoenix family was started by Avinalora Phoenix when she changed her last name to reflect how she fell apart so many times only to rebuild from the ashes.

Technically, the true founder is Alimro, a jackal female that had three children that were fathered by different males. Avinalora is the first one in 'Souls and the first one to make the name.

A large part of the current Phoenix line is jackal. Avinalora was the daughter of a pair of jackals from Suhra Amanzil?. Avinalora is the first to be called a Phoenix and considers her, her half-sisters, and adopted pups to be of the Phoenix line as well. Then, another one of her half-sisters, Suncatcher hears of the connection and uses the family name for her own children.

• Hunter: Avinalora's sister, Artemis Hunter is the daughter of Alimro.
• Crane: The father of Avinalora's first litter and introduced dog genes into the line.
