2003 brought with it a level of discomposure in the heart of the DeMonte family, who dwelled in Nova Mountain. Bronx DeMonte had settled there long ago and built up a family around him, but the mountain itself had dealt the family sore blows — one of the cliffs had once crumbled beneath Bronx, and it had taken the life of his son, Poet DeMonte. Over time, Bronx began to form a grudge against the mountain and its unpredictable bouts of sadism. The final straw came in March, when Bronx's young twin daughters, Ceridwin DeMonte and Sarasvati DeMonte, injured themselves on the mountain and, acting against Nova Mountain's nerve, he decided to move his family elsewhere.

Bronx, his mate Vanity DeMonte, and their four children moved to Whisper Forest; a landscape that had ever been a friend to them. Their plan was to simply play the parts of 'unofficial' Nova Mountain members who dwelled not on the mountain, but within this luscious, mysterious woodland. However, the arrival of Cypress Frostfur — an old friend of Bronx's, and pack-less Salvaje connoisseur — came with a suggestion that Whisper Forest be marked as a pack territory.

Exploration showed that Whisper Forest was far more extensive and deep than the Salvaje wolves had at first thought, and the enigmatic territory henceforth became home to a new Sabbia Valley pack. Whisper Forest was founded in March 2003 by Bronx DeMonte, who left Nova Mountain prompted by a series of concerns. The pack has branched out to claim some of Miracle Valley's southern reaches.

2.1  BWP 5 - Goodbye Our Peaceful Days

In June 2003, a Nova Mountain wolf called Caligula Aurelius Nero came to Whisper Forest to request an audience with its leader, Bronx DeMonte, whom he'd admired from afar. After a bad first impression, Caligula asked questions about government and warfare, to which Bronx replied that this was a peaceful pack, not an army. Bronx could not take Caligula's sober disposition seriously, and sent him away humiliated and no less enlightened. Caligula departed, finding that he could not respect Bronx's lack of thought towards war.

Caligula was later banished from Nova Mountain, and Whisper Forest made an appearance in Caligula's devious plots on many occasions due to Bronx's leadership and the propensity of DeMontes in the pack. It had been Jubilee DeMonte, after all, who had banished Caligula, and Chehalis DeMonte who later became a firm enemy of his.

In May, Macbeth, the son of Whisper Forest Hania Cypress Frostfur, threatened the life of one of the pack's children, Swift DeMonte. Macbeth was consequently disowned by Cypress, and eventually joined Caligula's army at Everto Peak.

June saw a raging battle on the slopes of Everto Peak, and in their midst was Heart (Whisper Forest Puppysitter, now making it clear that she was with the Evertos), Allure DeMonte and Cypress. Both were injured, and tended to by Whisper Forest's Medic, Thunder. Heart foolishly returned to Whisper Forest for her sins, but was thrown out by Vanity DeMonte and Sarasvati, who had once been cared for by the Puppysitter. In September, Allure's young son Karka tried to wreak vengeance on the Evertos, but failed.

Scathe, a Whisper Forest wolf new to the Salvajes, ventured accidentally into Everto Peak territory in September and, with the aid of Thunder, managed to escape.

Before the end of Autumn, the Evertos attacked Nova Mountain with Caligula at their head. Among them was Cypress, who battled with his son Macbeth until the demise of the latter. Bronx sought out Caligula and they fought viciously. Caligula was beat to within an inch of his life, but escaped when Bronx turned to aid Karka, who had joined the battlers. Later that night, Caligula's life was taken and the war was won.

2.2  BWP6 - Fimbulvetr

The wolves of Whisper Forest were able to weather the winter fairly well due to strict leadership. However, several of its members disappeared during the course of the winter (particularly during the blizzard and after an avalanche sealed off the tunnel between the valleys). When the temperatures finally began to warm in April, rain began to fall and the forest flash flooded. Its founder and Fravardin, Bronx DeMonte, was killed and the pack land became uninhabitable. Many of its former residents fled to Mount Firefly.

3.  Influence and Influences

• Phase: This family has had the largest impact on the DeMonte family, as Jubilee had six surviving children with Arsenio Phase who later branched out to connect the DeMonte and Roux-Abrhen families together.
• Roux-Abrhen: The Roux-Abrhen came into the picture towards the end of the DeMonte's time in the Salvaje Valley, but had no less influence on the family. Bragi, a son of Bronx DeMonte, mated with Grace Roux-Abrhen (daughter of the favored Lonan Roux-Abrhen) and produced a litter of four children.
• Endore: Though the Endore family was just as large as the DeMonte family, the two are only bound through the union of Fenroyal and Quetzal. The former disappeared under mysterious circumstances, causing his offspring, March Owl and Osprey, to abandon their ties to the DeMonte line.
• Frostfur: The only member of the Frostfur family, Cypress, was a constant and loyal friend to the DeMonte family for many years and he eventually became mates with Allure, producing three living children as a result.

Other Characters thought they were a Family member, but turned out not to be! Characters lied and said they were a Family member. Characters was given the surname for honorary purposes.

Adopted Poet was adopted by Bronx DeMonte Chehalis Hawkings was adopted by Bronx DeMonte. Chehalis Hawkings adopted Gideon, who became a DeMonte twice over when he became mates with Sarasvati. Jubilee DeMonte was officially adopted by Bronx DeMonte when Poet passed away in a tragic accident.

6.1  Physical Features

Are there specific physical features that run through this family? Larger sizes? Smaller sizes? A certain fur type?

Eyes

By far, the most common color is shades of Eucalyptus (#278A5B), though Mahagony (#5F0707) can make an appearance in Bronx's line. Allure and Snowflake passed on Puetro Rico (#43C7BD) and Malibu (#73B4E7) to their offspring. Shades of yellow and gray are not naturally part of the bloodline, but were introduced by Artorius, Arsenio and Jubilee.

Fur

The DeMontes are primarily dark in coloration, usually shades of black or charcoal gray. Dual-tones of black on white are an uncommon mutation, and can be seen in Allure and Swift. Very rarely are DeMonte's typically agouti colored in earthy browns and grays, but this trend has been on the rise since Jubilee and Arsenio's first litter reached adulthood, and Chehalis (FINALLY) started making babies.

7.  Culture and Homeland

• They are commonly found along the northwest coast, but there are large family packs of them near the Rockies, and smaller groups north towards Canada. Most of the family groups tend to live on mountains.
• The DeMontes are raised in a traditionalist environment. The father is the leader of the family, with the mother being the one to teach, look after, and care for the children. They learn from a young age how to survive the wilds and, since the introduction of the virus, do not, under any circumstance, interact with the remnants of human civilization.
