1.  Defining Features

General information about features that define this family.

1.1  Physical Features

A combination of Greyhound and Czechoslovakian Wolfdog, these dog mixes are of a more slim stature. Possessing long legs, they are built for speed over short distances rather than power.

Eyes

There are two prominent eye colours within the Blaise family; brown and blue. Heterochromia of the eye does occur frequently within the family and those with blue eyes have been noted to suffer from partial or complete blindness, although the causing factor of this is unknown.

Conforming eyes:

Non-conforming eyes:

  • Merlin (#413733) seen in Austri
  • Indian Tan (#5a1d02) seen in Bartolv
  • San Juan (#2C4668) seen in Sybille?
  • Curious Blue (#249ad9) seen in Austri
  • Periwinkle Gray (#C0CCE0) seen in Bartolv
  • Currently, none.

Fur

Due to their greyhound nature their pelts are on the thinner side, requiring members to wear clothing in colder months to compensate for their thin pelt. More often than not, members of this family have very natural coats; standard markings more align with Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs than their greyhound lineage, members are usually dark in markings, with cream and grey accents to their pelt.

3.  Culture and Homeland

3.1  Loners

The blaise family initially originated from France, however they have travelled far over the years, spreading out across the world. There are few settlements where the family predominantly reside, many preferring the life of a vagabond loner, drifting from one place to another. Czechoslovakia is home to the largest gathering of Blaise family members and is quite well known of among the family, to even those scattered across the world.

It is uncommon for a female to be travelling alone without a male present to supervise her. Such females are normally exiled members of the family or have extenuating circumstances that resulted in their separation.

3.2  Gender Roles

The Blaise familys social norms in relation to gender roles follows along the lines of Model A, from Talcott Parson's model. This belief system can be defined under various areas of which the gender segregation becomes more apparent.

  • Education: The level of and type of education is gender-specific; males are expected to hold a wider and more complex skill set than female's, within areas that are deemed 'masculine'. These areas vary from weapon craft, to trading and basic hunting. Females are expected to have lesser skills, based in feminine fields such as tailoring, cooking, pup care, etc.
    • It is considered unorthodox for a member of the family to apprentice themselves to someone of the opposite gender. Female's are to have female instructors, with the same applying to males.
    • Females are often not taught much past the basics and what is instinctual for them in the ways of hunting.
    • Both genders have developed their own form of writing that is unique to the family; the male variation was taught to both, whereas the female variation was kept well guarded. This allowed for female's to communicate with each other outside of prying male eyes.
  • Rank and provisions: Males are the ones to hold higher rank and are deemed more dominant than female's. They are the ones to provide not only the food for the family, but other relevant resources. Females expect male's to surround them with wealth and whatever they desire.
    • It is considered acceptable for a male to discipline females and pups, if they challenge his authority.
  • Decision making: Female are allowed to voice their opinion, so long as it does not question the male's authority or in some way offend the male. Regardless, males have the final say in all decisions.
    • Arrange mateships are common place, with the male head of the family selecting a suitable partner for any of the females under his care.
  • Child care and education: Males within the family have little to do with the upbringing of their children, as a result the female is charged with their upbringing and education until they reach 7 months of age.
    • Females often seek out strangers to sire their children if they are not currently mated.
    • Children, regardless of how they were conceived, are raised with awareness of who their father is and are taught to respect the male; even if he isn't actively present in their lives.
