The Ambre family is the largest family group within the Outpost. They are a driving force behind the Outpost, and provide a strong link between the southerly Freetown and the Outpost itself. Their goods include various cookware, food, food-relevant items, and clay pottery.

1.  Location

The Ambre family dwells within the largest building of the Outpost -- a ramshackle, three-room cabin with a large front porch. One corner of the porch roof is collapsing, but the cabin is in otherwise decent shape.

Trade-wise, a member of the Ambre family always mans the front. A Luperci-made bench provides a seat for the trader. A wide array of pots, pans, and other cookware dangle from innumerable hooks and nails added to the porch over the years. Rickety wooden tables display larger items.

The pottery wheel, Ioanna, and her baking oven are located off to the side of the building, beneath an overhang constructed of various scavenged parts. Orazio del Sandeo da Roma? is often found beneath this overhang, when he is within the Outpost.

2.  Trade Information

2.1  Trade Pricing: Poor to Fair

  • They're the most stingy traders and nigh impossible to swindle.

2.2  Items Wanted

  • Although strange to new traders, the Ambre family accepts quality clays for Ioanna's pottery wheel (highly valued)
  • Greedy for shiny goods such as golds, silvers, jewelery, etc., which are then traded to Freetown canines. Presumably, these shinies then make their way over the ocean, where they are valued more. (middling value)
  • Anything else, really -- but they are sharp in appraising the value of such items. Items related to their own trades (pottery, food items, food itself) are more valued.

2.3  Items Offered for Trade

Pottery

Ioanna owns a potter's wheel. Her wares are not unbreakable, but they are well-made. However, they are also very plain -- she does not decorate her work. Custom-made items are available.

Food and Cookware

  • Spices (exclusively local).
  • Food: salted meats and fish, as well as pemmican.
  • Food preparation items (ranging from pots and pans and cast-iron cookware to silverware).
  • Spoons, plates, forks, ladles, mugs, jugs, jars, and all manner of various scavenged cookware -- usually chipped and cracked.

Data

Appearance

Personality

3.1  Caeli

  • Gender: Female
  • Species: Wolf
  • DOB: 2005

She is a large woman, well-fed and all, and she speaks with a strong English accent. Pale grays and whites make up her fur; she has striking bright green eyes. She is frequently seen wearing a tattered red shawl, wrapped around her head and shoulders.

Materialistic and practical above all else, Caeli seeks to exact value however possible and is the epitome of a Manipulative Bastard. She employs some sleazy tactics -- stretching the truth about merchandise, or offering a lower trade value for an item -- where she can get away with it. A deceptively kind, oft-smiling woman, her arts were well-practiced in her earlier years overseas. One will never see Caeli grow the slightest bit cross, except with Diomedes -- and even then, her mistreatment of her mate is subtle.

3.2  Diomedes

  • Gender: Male
  • Species: Wolf
  • DOB: 2007

Diomedes is a small man, brownish in coloration with a paler underbelly. His eyes are orange. He is a slim man, standing no taller than six feet, though he is lean and composed of hard muscle. He is usually seen clothed, wearing a dark-furred pelt slung about his waist and a second around his shoulders. In winter, he may don an entire cloak of the same dark bear fur. The cloak, which outsizes him greatly, swallows him up.

Diomedes excels at diplomacy. It is his soft tongue that calms the displeased customers. He is unfailingly cordial, though not kind. Much like his wife, his cordiality is very much a ruse. Medes' life has become the trade and what worth he can exact -- he values nothing else. While he is deeply unhappy, he remains in his current state for the state of his children -- he is essentially a Jaded Washout, undervalued by his mate and most everyone else.

3.3  Chrysanthe

  • Gender: Female
  • Species: Wolf
  • DOB: 2009

Chrysanthe is dark in appearance and takes after both parents: she is voluptuous and well-built as her mother, but stout and small as her father. Most of her fur is dark, though her underbelly is lighter, and she inherited her mother's dark green eyes. Chrys does not usually wear clothing, but is always wearing some shiny trinket -- usually a thin gold chain necklace with a cross pendant.

Chyrsanthe is a hard, driven woman -- a Determinator, she is stubborn, bossy, and extremely protective of her parents and siblings. While she is frequently surly to the customers, a pretty face (male or female) may be able to flirt his or her way to a lower trade price.

3.4  Ioanna

  • Gender: Female
  • Species: Wolf
  • DOB: 2009

Ioanna takes after her Diomedes' shape: she is slim and small. Her fur is deep boulder gray, but her hair in Optime form is pale silver, almost white at the tips. She wears it short, and her sharp eyes give her a rather harsh appearance. She likes to wear clothes -- any clothes! Dresses, skirts, pants, pelts, whatever -- she'll take any of it and wear it proudly.

Ioanna is sweeter than even Galene, and not very bright besides -- she is a Cloudcuckoolander. Airy dreamer describes her best -- most of her communication seems almost illogical, and she is difficult to understand because she's always rattling off some metaphorical nonsense. Most of her time is spent at the potter's wheel. She trades occasionally, though she is almost always supervised when trading by another member of her family due to her propensity to be overly generous.

3.5  Galene

  • Gender: Male
  • Species: Wolf
  • DOB: 2009

Galene is a very pale gray-brown, and in this regard, he is most like his father, possessing a hint of Diomedes' coat. His mother's striking eyes are, of course, present, though Galene's eyes are soft and large, giving them an altogether unearthly appearance. Galene dresses similarly to his father, though he wears leather instead of a pelt, and has "pants" (after a fashion).

Diomedes is very friendly and talkative -- he treats traders as a Chatty Hairdresser might. Beneath this exterior, his trading abilities are as sharp as his parents and elder sister. Galene often rides far and wide on horseback to do the Ambre family's mobile trading, and is infrequently seen within the outpost itself.
