Zinnia Skybright is the daughter of Hyuna and Laurence Skybright and was born in a broken household in British Columbia. After a particularly nasty fight between the three, Zinnia struck out on her own at a young age and wandered alone until she met Kennedy Fisher, a coywolf that seemed just as lost in the world as her.

The two traveled together for a few years, going through many adventures and revelations as close friends (or intimate, mostly-platonic more-than-friends), until Zinnia felt compelled to head westward—alone. Kennedy accepted this and the two parted ways without any promises to meet again due to how unrealistic it would be.

Two years later, Zinnia set out on finding Kennedy. Following clues and hints about a coyote clan nestled in Nova Scotia, she journeyed from California to Inferni, hoping to find her old friend and flame.

The history of the two years between Zinnia and Kennedy's separation, and her reasoning for seeking out Kennedy (whether platonic or romantic, or a mix of both), is up to the adopter! (Feel free to ask about the OTP playlist for inspiration, 'cause that's a thing.)

1.  Appearance

1.1  Basics

Description

Zinnia is a black coyote-dominant hybrid with blue eyes.

Owing to her coyote blood, Zinnia is small when she is compared to wolves but will be average among coyotes, if not slightly shorter.

She is squarely built and sports a short, broad muzzle (suggesting her dog heritage) but retains slim limbs and elongated ears that are iconic for coyotes.

Zinnia is highly humanized in her appearance and behavior. It is rare for her to go unclothed. Her mane is stylized into a chin-length bob.

Adopter is encouraged to flesh out this section.

3.1  Family

  • Mother: Hyuna
  • Father: Laurence Skybright
  • Hyuna is Zinnia's mother. While she liked her mother than she did her father, Zinnia loathed that Hyuna had no ambition to escape from Laurence's abuse (thus willingly subjecting her child to the same). As she has grown older, Zinnia may now pity the woman.
  • Laurence Skybright is Zinnia's father. He gives her the reason to dislike coyotes—his supremacist views and subsequent abuse of his hybrid mate and child has left a bad taste in Zinnia's mouth. She hates the man to this day but he was good for one thing: he motivates Zinnia to live life to the fullest.

4.  History

Zinnia Skybright was born in early 2012 during a harsh winter and into a colder household. Her father Laurence was a strict man that held the belief that coyotes were the superior species. His mate, a foreign wolfdog hybrid named Hyuna, was wed out of convenience in hopes of obtaining her family's wealth. But when it became clear that they would not receive the funds, Hyuna becames subjected to his verbal abuse.

When all she produced from their union was a singular daughter, the pup was given the same treatment. However, Zinnia as docile as her mother and often retaliated his lessons and failed to be groomed to hold similar beliefs.

It was during the conversation that anything other than a coyote was a waste of life that yearling Zinnia had enough. Their fight became physical and Hyuna defended Laurence. Feeling betrayed and outcasted, Zinnia ran away from home and headed east.

During the fall of 2013, she came upon a non-Luperci named Kennedy Fisher. The two decided to remain together for the winter, at first only as a greater means of survival, but as the season went on, the two became friends after they opened up to one another; Zinna helped Kennedy with his grief over the recently deceased father and Kennedy assured her that she had a purpose.

In the following summer, Zinnia was attacked by a lone female wolf over prey, and Kennedy defended her and ended up having to kill the wolf in their defense. However, the non-Luperci sustained serious injuries that resulted in Kennedy contracting the Luperci virus -- both from the wounds inflicted by the wolf and from Zinnia cleaning them. His first shift unsettled him, but Zinnia talked him through it and he managed to come out of the ordeal unscathed.

However, his new body triggered unpleasant feelings within him that were once somewhat dormant, brought to the forefront of his mind -- his Optime body had things that were considered womanly or feminine, and he rarely shifted into this form and showed discomfort whenever he did. Zinnia noticed his change in demeanor, and after some questioning, Kennedy spoke about his dysphoria for the first time. Zinnia was supportive and confirmed his feelings to be valid, and suggested that he wasn't a female despite being called as such all his life.

From then on, he embraced his identity. Zinnia supported and helped Ken with his transition, and the two became even closer. They danced on the line between companions and lovers, sharing touches and words that were intimate in nature, but they never crossed the boundary beyond friendship. Their attraction could not be denied, but it went unspoken and unaddressed—Zinnia's growing fear of commitment held her back.

In the spring of 2015, Zinnia fabricated a lie. Knowing that Kennedy had superstitions about dreams, she told him that a vision telling her to head west by herself. She did not want to deter him from finding his sister (a new goal Kennedy had decided upon) and she wanted to see more of the world. He believed her and the two parted on good terms, though they did not promise to see each other again, both knowing it probably could not be kept and could only wish for it to happen.

What happens during the next two years and why Zinnia decides to seek out Kennedy is up to the adopter!
