1.  Synopsis

An expat from their homeland, Wrenshall departed from Selmaski in search of a greater meaning to live and death and the purpose of existence. Without a more solid direction to depart in, Wren opted to start out towards the northeast where Councilor Inara Naira had gone many years before. Unbeknownst to them, this was also the very direction that their semi-prodigal cousin, Paninya — a figure that their pack used often as a cautionary tale in order to keep their people within Selmaski — had gone and settled within.

2.  Appearance

Basics

Light, lean, and lithe, Wrenshall has all the trademarks of a coyote, right down to the oversized ears and long, tapered nose. But their brindled pelt, umber saddle, and piebald patterning is highly suggestive that there are dog genes at play here. This is further argued by the appearance of their heterochromatic eyes: the left being blue and the right, often hidden behind a shock of their mane, being amber.

Despite being long-legged, long-tailed, and long-eared, there is a certain balance at play to their appearance. They have a largely androgynous torso, with somewhat narrow hips and a modest chest, and sport an abundance of lean muscle. Although they're a little taller than the average coyote, Wren's poor posture can make them look shorter.

  • Quirks, Gestures, Etc.: Often grasps the opposite arm with their hand. Doesn't shy away from direct eye contact but also tends to look off into the middle distance when talking.
  • Posture and Body Language: Unflappable, mild, and unassuming.
  • Scent: Freshwater, pine sap, prairie grasses, soil. Subtle hints of decomposition.
  • Scars: Scarification of a turkey vulture on the inside of their right rear leg.
  • Gear
    • Clothing: Not much! They may adorn themselves in cloaks, ponchos, or serapes in wintertime, however.
    • Accessories: Turkey vulture feathers, beaded bracelets, a cowrie necklace.

3.  Personality

Basics

Up to the Adopter - however, per our Contract section, the character is intended to have the following personality:

  • Placid, solemn, and perhaps a bit dolorous.
  • Unafraid of confrontation or making others uncomfortable.
  • Drawn towards morbid curiosities and topics of mortality.
  • Has a dark (and dry) humor, making it difficult for others to tell when they're joking.

Character has the following intended skillsets:

  • Spiritual, with a special interest in death and grief.
  • Excellent record-keeper and orator.
  • Fantastic with birds!

A bit of a peculiarity, Wrenshall has taken a special interested in the darker, gloomier side of life, namely: failure, regret, grief, and death. They recognize value of life and the important of death simultaneously, which, while paradoxical to some, drives much of what Wrenshall does and believes. Whether for better or worse, these interests have molded Wren into a quiet, sober, and calm individual and often gives off a grim and doleful impression. But hidden behind their veil of gloom and impermanence is a sense of humor that, for its darkness and subtlety, can be easy to miss. Deeply reverent of life, however, Wren celebrates each day in their own way, be it delighting in their packmate's discomfort, engaging in a colorful disagreement, or finding comfort in birdsong.

Traits
  • Demeanor: Neutral, if a little (outwardly) glum.
  • Speech: Calm, dry, and with a fairly lugubrious effect.
  • Sexuality: Up to adopter!
  • Outlook: Largely pessimistic.
  • Alignment: Up to adopter!
