Rin Itou 糸凜

Rin Itou is the daughter of Itou Alaki and Alice, and twin to Itou Ryo. She is predominately of wolfish descent, conceived following a falling out between Alaki and his mate at the time; Alaki eased his pain with the drugged, alcoholic woman that later didn’t even want their children. While still young, she and her brother were given back to Alaki, who then handed them over to be cared for by Ayasha in Anathema. Only a few months later, Alaki recollected several of his illegitimate children (including Rin) and left Nova Scotia with them.

Rin, however, was able to recently return to ‘Souls with the aid of Beyaz, Alaki’s albino crow. After a short stay in Vinátta, she returns back to her father, bored of the world outside. There is a falling out, and Rin and her half-siblings desert the camp and return to Nova Scotia. They join Salsola together, where they are betrayed by Lillith Trombetta and Rin meets her death.

Colouration

Eyes: gulf stream green (#89B5AB) surrounded by rock blue (#9FC3D0).
Fur:
- Primarily gray nickle (#B4B4B1), natural gray (#8E8D8A), & dappled with cloudy gray (#ACABA9)
- Her underside is a paler shade of pumice (#D8D9D8). This same color can be seen on her muzzle as a white, cross-shaped blaze.
- Her left paw & back is covered with tuatara (#3E3E3B).
- Her left shoulder has a vivid splash of iron (#DFE0E0).
Sometimes paints her muzzle and under her eyes with streaks of hippie blue (#4EA6A9) & Eastern blue (#268EBA) paint.

Build and Species

Itou Rin is a tall little girl, and will likely grow to be above the average in several aspects - least of all being in height. A mix of Eastern Timber Wolf, Vancouver Island Wolf, Caspian Sea Wolf, and splashed with some Lower Rio Grande Coyote and a little Northeastern Coyote, Rin is a lovely canine. She is built well with lean muscle, long limbs, and a strong back. As a pre-teen, she is slowly displaying the slightest hints of a curve to her as of yet undeveloped body, and will likely prove to be quite the lovely little lady in time. After spending much of her young life training to be a warrior like her father, Rin is also considerably strong for her age, and her arms, legs, and core display this with every flex of her little body. She is, all in all, built like a cage-fighter.

She stands confidently, assured of her strengths and skills in the face of opposition and naturally a dominant personality. Her gait is graceful, if a touch lop-sided, and she has a wonderful sense of balance.

Rin is approximately 1/5 coyote, and 4/5 wolf. As such, she looks predominantly wolfish- in all aspects of her lupus form, it is essentially impossible to tell she is anything but a wolf. She is about the average size for a female, if not a bit taller than the norm. Her build is slim and feminine, but packed on with strong muscles from training with her father.		Rin's fur becomes considerably shaggier, even standing up in several places down her spine, and she weighs in at a respectable 160 pounds of power-packed muscle. Her canine teeth poke out a touch, giving her an almost saber-tooth cat-like intimidating smile.		Rin is quite willowy on two legs, interestingly reflecting that little twinge of coyote heritage amidst her wolfish lines. She is just slightly taller than the average female wolf, and built to run. Her mane is often left uncut, and in terms of style it is left to its own devices- straightening to a length that stops right above her waist line. She usually leaves her hair down, but when training it can be seen in a tight, messy bun.

- Two smaller ones on her left forearm; once more the circle and thorns, as well as the Kanji for 'rain' (雨), given to her by her father's mate Alexander.

Accessories

A bo staff, obtained from her father. It's old, beaten up, and her usual practice weapon.
A pair of black-leather-handled katanas and their sheaths. She was training to handle two of these short swords at once before she decided to return to 'Souls.

Clothes

A leather cloak with fur fringe around the hood. This is usually worn in the winter while out in the snow- it does well keeping the snow from clumping on her fur. In her other forms, she only uses it to wrap up her blades so they don't slice her up as she runs.
A white skirt she picked up on her journey back to Nova Scotia. While passing through Quebec, she found the tattered old thing inside one of the buildings she stayed in. She doesn't tend to wear this- only on odd occasions will the tomboy sword-wielder find a desire to wear the skirt.

Personality

While Rin is not exactly a ‘leader’ of any group, she can and ‘will’ pursue dominance over other individuals when possible. She is anything but socially weak, and when confronted with someone who ‘is’, she will naturally express dominance. When faced with someone who tries to dominant her, Rin will become aggressive, and may even attack if provoked. She has a quiet, yet unquestionable loyalty to those whom she trusts. While Rin is not vocal about her fellowship to those she has come to befriend, she does show them through action that she will protect no matter what. Because she was raised in an environment with little in the way of disciplinary moral compass, Rin is rather ‘bold’ with her opinions. She is highly disrespectful to anyone she does not feel is worthy – only her family and Naniko were among the worthy prior to her leave of ‘Souls with Alaki. She will even raise an attitude with friends, and does not regret doing so; she thinks that everything she does is ‘justifiable’. Rin has a rather violent temperament, and it really doesn't take much for her to get vibrantly emotional. Though she does physically restrain herself for the most part, she is keen to at least verbally express her disdain of the situation, whether it be in Japanese, or in English.

In general, Rin finds sex with women distasteful – she may, however, make exceptions if she is the dominant one.
With males, she will make it clear that she will not be the submissive one- and will assume the leading role. If the top spot is not relinquished, she will not hesitate to fight for it.

She finds substances a common place, and would not think twice about drinking or taking a drug if someone wants her to or if she feels like it.

Speech

Influenced by Japanese culture through Alaki, her short stint in Anathema, and through her other relatives, Rin became fluently bilingual, learning two languages at once – Japanese and English. By preference, the child speaks predominantly Japanese, though she does still speak accented English when faced with someone unable to understand her favored native tongue. She can force herself to speak as clearly as any other native English speaker however, and thus remove her natural accent- but more often than not the child doesn't care to do so.

A confident, calm speaker, Rin often speaks slowly and deliberately, hardly ever fumbling over her words or losing her train of thought like she used to- when she’s calm, at least. When excited or upset, her brain often moves faster than her mouth can, preventing her from forming coherent sentences and sounding competent (something that often makes her more upset). She still may swap out English words for Japanese ones when faced with a momentary lapse in vocabulary. Now that she has returned to ‘Souls, however, it is likely the pre-teen will slowly move to English predominantly in conversation outside of her home or close-knit circle of friends.

Rin has also become relatively fluent in low speech, mainly that of crows, through common interaction with her family’s pets.

History

Timeline

2012

June: Born to drug addict/alcoholic mother, Alice- first few weeks of life was not pleasant for the kids. Alaki learns of his and Alice's puppies, and sends someone to take them from her. The canine returns only with a note requesting for Alaki's own presence to take the children. Before leaving, he asks Ayasha to care for the puppies alongside her own. ¹. Rin and Ryo arrive at Anathema, and are then taken care of by Ayasha.
August: Rin, Ryo, and several other illegitimate children of Alaki's are taken by their father from ‘Souls. His reasoning for this is unknown.
September: With their father's consent, Ren along with Miwa Itou left their family to live in Japan with Aphrodite Itou ? and her mate Akihiro. Following their mothers direction, Rei Itou, Ran Itou and Ryu Itou begin living with the family after being exiled from their pack, arriving after Ren's group had left.
December: Rin returns to ‘Souls following Beyaz, Alaki’s albino crow. The bird takes his leave of the whelp upon reaching an area of familiarity. Instead of returning to Anathema as she had originally aimed to, however, Rin ended up in the packlands of Vinátta, where she meets and is taken in by Colibri Haki.^[1]

2013

February: Rin begins to miss her family and so, although slowly, returns home. She leaves behind her adoptive family without warning.
March: Ren & Miwa returned back to the family on his own and began to live with them once again.
May: During the dead of night, Aoi Itou and Alaki begin to argue, resulting in her father having a mental lapse and killing Aoi, leaving her body beside Ren as the he slept. Miwa Itou, who witnessed the events, wakes the children and all of them leave. Ren, Miwa and Ryo heading of to find Tsubasa and Peregrine, whilst Rei, Ran, Ryu and Rin head of for parts unknown.
June: With only scarce belongings, the group of four resorted to theft; although something went wrong, resulting in the group scattering.
July: The group is reunited by Ren, who has accepted Lillith Trombetta's proposal of mateship in order to earn a place in Salsola, and secretly search for his enslaved mother and littermate. Rin claims to be Ryo's mate, much to her twin's chagrin.^[2]
August: Lillith overhears Ren's deceitful plans, and betrays the group to Salvia Eternity.^[3] The Itou siblings flee for the borders, but are intercepted and forced to fight for their lives. Rin is fatally wounded by Lillith, and dies before she can escape Salsola.^[4]
