MAJA DE LE ULRICH (MY-a de le UHL-rick) was born within Salsola and is the bastard daughter of Evelyn de le Ulrich and Vegard. She was born in the early hours of March 3rd, 2022. Conceived in the aftermath of the emotional culmination of events of A Tear in the Tapestry, needless to say the girl was born within a tumultuous time. Shortly before her second birthday, after a fight with her mother, Evelyn had agreed to pack up with Maja and return to the Thistle Kingdom in hopes to quell Maja’s rash behaviour and temper it enough so that she could make something of herself. With her interest in the healing arts, Eve already had a mind to ask her own sister to take the girl under her wing upon their return, and hopefully, that way, between the pair of them, could keep her out of trouble. Maja’s wild heart soared at the news and she worked diligently in deciding what she needed to pack over the couple of months that remained of their stay, saying goodbye to her mentor and starting a new journey for herself. Maja is a unique but even blend of wolf, coyote and dog and it is completely evident and reflective within her appearance. At first glance, not even the best could pinpoint exactly which breed dominates in her genetics. Being a mix of landrace breeds from her dog heritage, as well as coyote, this gives her a willowy, graceful appearance with her height borrowed from the same landrace genetics mixed with wolf. Her sleek and pointed face bears a striking resemblance to her father with her skull being much thinner than most wolves or coyotes. Her fur, noticeably thicker along her cheeks, resembles her mother. Her ears are capable of standing erect, akin to a coyote, yet possess a gentle fold when relaxed against her head, reminiscent of her father, Vegard. Maja’s eyes are a deep, captivating grey-blue, like the brooding sea before a storm. The spirited girl wears her emotions boldly, dancing freely within the depths of her ocean-blue eyes. It is in the quiet intensity of her gaze that one can truly glimpse the depth and resilience of her soul. Maja borrows the deep, darker rich tones from her father mostly, with the sandstone hues dispersed throughout her pelt a nod to her mother’s mostly monochromatic colouration. Dark inky black begins midway around her muzzle, ascends over her face, tips her ears, and spreads like a blanket over the back of her neck and shoulders thin and ending just above her rump. It fades outwards to a charcoal grey that covers the front of her throat, her shoulders and the sides, fading down into sandy hues along her back legs. The black along her arms stop just above her wrists and are clearly defined before shifting into a lighter cream. The sandy tones brush over her eyes, breaking up the dark colors on her face, start at the front of her shoulders, along the sides of her belly and mix with the dark charcoal on her back legs. A light sand covers her paws, up the insides of her forearms and back legs, along the thick fur at her hocks and down the underside of her tail. Her muzzle is dipped in the same color as well as the inside of her ears there is a splash. Maja is highly humanized, having been born into the Thistle Kingdom and then raised in the outpost by a mother who is highly humanized as well. In optime, she has long hair that is wavy and lush in appearance, a brilliant ebony in color. Her hair can be found in a myriad of styles: braided, loose, tied up against the nap of her neck. She too sometimes wears bandanas in her hair to hold her hair back especially when she is working. Loose strands fall forth and frame her face, and she has messy, layered bangs that fall into her eyes sometimes if she forgets to cut them. Maja takes pride in her appearance and keeps her clothes neat and clean, and uses separate clothes for when she is out tending to her garden or animals than what she presents outside of the house with. She is rarely seen using her lupus or secui forms, but occasionally will for tracking or hunting if need be. If this is the case, she will generally keep a bag of things to change into close by from where she shifts so she can dress quickly once returned to her optime form. |

Maja’s spirited nature is an infectious force that permeates every aspect of her being contrasting her mother’s own reserved nature. Her boundless energy and unwavering optimism have carried through even after she was just a youth. There is enthusiasm in everything she approaches, embracing both the triumphs and setbacks with equal fervor as she faces new challenges. Her laughter is infectious and she tries to give everyone she leaves a reason to smile. Fiercely independent, Maja attempts to carve her own path through life, not wanting to use her family name to get ahead, but instead make use of her hands and prove her worth. She resists the constraints of the conventional Salsolan way, forging her own destiny and taking hold of her fate with unwavering determination. This is proven in the way she has secured herself an apprenticeship without the help of her mother in Fort Preble, although she can not help but wonder if her family name had a role in Baltasar taking her on. Maja is an extremely empathetic character, shaping her interactions with the world around her, flowing through her veins and giving purpose to everything she does. She possesses an extraordinary capacity to understand the pain and suffering of others, offering solace and healing with a gentle touch or compassionate heart. It is not merely a passive quality, empathy compels her to action, driving her to seek out to better herself in order to aid those around her who need it most. The girl approaches every task with unwavering dedication and meticulous attention to detail; a trait she undeniably acquired from her mother. Whether she is tending to her garden, concocting healing ointments or salves, or caring for the sick and injured, Maja pours her heart and soul into her work. Her tireless efforts are a testament to her commitment to making a difference in their world. When those are threatened, the girl can be overly protective, and will fiercely defend them against any harm. Cheerfulness is Maja’s default setting, exuding an aura of joy and positivity that’s not normally seen throughout the Thistle Kingdom extending even into its outpost. Her cheerful disposition can make others distrusting of her and her intentions for this reason and react negatively towards her. Beneath her cheerfulness lies a stubborn streak that can be both a blessing and a curse. Once she sets her mind on something, she pursues it, refusing to let obstacles stand in her way. While it has served her well in her pursuit of knowledge and mastery over the healing arts (which she is nowhere close yet), it has, however, led her to dig her heels in and resist change, even when it is for her own good. Impatience is a thorn in her side, often leading her to rush into situations without fully considering the consequences. Her eagerness to help others and her desire to see results quickly can sometimes cause her to overlook important details. However, this impatience is also a driving force behind her productivity and her ability to accomplish a great deal in a short amount of time even if in detriment to her own health. Her outspoken nature can be a double edged sword. On one hand, her willingness to speak her mind, even when it is unpopular, is a refreshing quality among those that keep their mouth shut for the sake of their rank. She is not afraid to challenge authority or to voice her opinions, even if they are controversial to the Salsolan way of life. Her outspokenness has led her to say things that she later regrets at times. Headstrong and willful, she follows her own path, regardless of the opinions of others. She trusts her instincts and her own judgement, even when it leads her down a road less travelled. This nature has allowed her to forge her own destiny, irrespective of her mother’s wishes, but has led her to make impulsive decisions and ignore the advice of those who may know better. Her possessiveness is a flaw that occasionally mars Maja’s otherwise admirable character. While she can be fiercely protective of those she loves, sometimes it can be to the point of smothering them. This stems from a deep-seated fear of loss, a fear that she will be abandoned by those she cares for just like when her father had disappeared as quickly from her life as he had arrived. Maja needs to balance her need for security with the need for freedom and independence from those she loves. |

Apprenticing daily under Baltasar Salcedo in Fort Preble? and Portland, Maja has learned a variety of things: medicinal plants, herbs and their properties. She has learned how to prepare simple remedies, tinctures and ointments that soothe ailments and infections, ease pain, and promote physical well-being. Her proficiency lies in treating wounds, cuts, bruises, stitching significant slashes, splinting broken bones, setting dislocated joints and supportive measures to get someone through an illness through traditional medicine. While she is nowhere near being able to act completely on her own yet, her abilities and empathetic approach make her an integral part of a team as long as someone is overseeing her. Maja is able to identify many plants and their medicinal properties from learning from her mentors Baltasar Salcedo and Azalea Eternity. Azalea spent many days and hours helping Maja create and tend to her garden, giving her tips and pointers about certain plants and keeping them alive while Baltasar’s mastery came in handy for what plants and parts of each plant are useful for certain things within their practice. Under Baltasar’s watchful eye she has created simple remedies, tinctures and ointments that soothe ailments, infections, ease pain and promote physical well-being. Stores all of her knowledge in a leatherbound book with either sketches of useful plants and herbs and descriptions of how to make anything she has previously made before, or she presses the flowers/plants into the book to capture the exact plant or scent to distinguish between them. She still has a lot to learn, but has a basic understanding of the plants she uses for day to day. Further details...Has learned to craft basic things for her healing arts from bone needles for stitching, creating strips of bandages for wound care, creating sterilizing alcohols for wound cleansing, and using sinew for stitching.
Under Azalea’s watchful eye and care, Maja has become somewhat proficient in cultivating plants, and their care required, as well as some other vegetation. Evelyn had been an excellent hunter and trapper, and passed these useful skills down to Maja. While Maja is not greatly interested, she can make basic nooses to catch rabbits and other small rodents, but that’s the extent of what she picked up from her mother. Essentially, she would not starve if left on her own in the wild, but she has nowhere near the skill level that her mother acquired during her years as Salsola’s Collettore (trapper) nor her grandfather who was the Jagermeister. Evelyn had been on the way to becoming the pack Equinest before her aspirations were derailed by an unplanned pregnancy. MAJA DE LE ULRICH (MY-a de le UHL-rick) was born within Salsola and is the bastard daughter of Evelyn de le Ulrich and Vegard. She was born in the early hours of March 3rd, 2022. Conceived in the aftermath of the emotional culmination of events of A Tear in the Tapestry, needless to say the girl was born within a tumultuous time.
When Maja was a little over four months old, Evelyn returned to Fort Preble to raise her daughter away from the tight grip of the Thistle Kingdom. It was her own paranoia that had gotten the best of her, not wanting her daughter to be an outsider among her ilk due to her unknown parentage. There were few who knew who Maja’s father truly was, but anyone who may have known Vegard would take one look at Maja and realize just who her father was.
Content to raise her daughter on the outskirts of the outpost, Evelyn spent the rest of the summer making the place liveable for them both while educating her daughter in absolutely everything she knew. It was only a couple of months later when Azalea too returned to the outpost and Maja grew up with the woman, her mate and their children. Enjoying having playmates and seeing her mother happy again, they had made a happy home together.
It was not until closer to Maja’s first birthday that the girl started to realize how much she was missing out in the world and took short day trips into Fort Preble at first, before turning to outside the borders and into the bustling streets of Portland. This was where she discovered that she was not meant to be holed up in a little cabin on the outskirts, but instead, out where other luperci were, making friends, learning things her mother could never have taught her and she desired to returned to Salsola proper where she could make a name for herself.
Back home, she filled her days with purpose, delving into the mysteries of medicinal plants thanks to the help of Azalea. Her garden she soon developed the spring following her first birthday was a sanctuary of healing and tranquillity. Each leaf and petal, each stem and root held promise of a remedy for ailments that she was starting to learn about. The girl had found an apprenticeship under Baltarsar Salcedo? a healer in Fort Preble. With deft hands, she crafted tinctures and salves under his gentle guidance. Maja’s heart bled with the suffering of those that frequented his small clinics: one in Fort Preble and the other was a smaller thing that was almost directly in the port where those who were coming and going could visit. Her unwavering work ethic and dedication had aided her in securing the apprenticeship and she grew close to her mentor.
At first, Evelyn had been surprised when she heard about who her daughter had been frequently seeing, but when she learned it was a brother of an old friend she quickly brushed away any fears that had plagued her. Her garden flourished with Azalea’s green thumb, and Baltasar’s guidance about which plants in particular would be useful to them. A thick leather bound journal that her mother had gifted her held all that she learned, plants and their uses sketched upon the pages, some pressed so she could remember, as well as plants to avoid.
