Kallippos Paddock came from Carnalis, and is the main reason for the sect split that took place in late 2021. Originally, Kallippos was a non-Luperci, but the cult kidnapped and infected them. Then taken to be the partner of the ex-Prophet, Exodus "X" Crux, for his supposed spiritual powers, he was discriminated against within the original area of Carnalis for not being of pure blood (that is, not being Ortus). After some time, X and Kallippos set off on their own with some members of the original sect to spread the word of their religion. Having gone through such hard times, Kallippos is remarkably well-adjusted for what it is worth. He still believes strongly in good & justice for all, and tries to use his partner's belief in his spiritual prowess to hopefully influence better traits in him. This has worked to some degree, as their sect has become generally more pleasant for Outsiders to interact with. They provide entertainment, goods, and services wherever they roam to the best of their ability, forming a outwardly happy band of performers. Internally, Kallippos is well aware there is still a dark underbelly to it all. This character has no on-board history as of yet, and is a work-in-progress. The information on this wiki is non-canon. It may not reflect the completed character accurately when they officially join the board. |

PersonalityAdaptable • Fearful • Kind • Distant • Extraordinary • Insecure Kallippos is painted as a being of duality, but often, they feel pushed into this role. Going from being tortured and spit on to praised and held as 'special' by the same people does something to your trust, Kallippos will be the first one to admit to that. He wants good and fairness for all, but tries to push this in a detached manner. He offers counsel on intimate matters while trying to put himself at a distance from them as much as possible. The emotional whirlwind of dealing with his mate is tough enough most days. He doesn't have any capacity left for friends. Nonetheless, he is slow to irritate and even slower to anger. Kallippos fears his own wrath after his Coming of Age ritual (in which he murdered an innocent), and tries to repress it at all costs. He practices slow and steady breathing as a way to clear his mind of negative emotion, though he is unaware that this practice is known to most as 'meditation'. He also tries to redirect his focus to others, and stay in tune with their feelings. Because of this, Kallippos is particularly sensitive to body language and seems to have a knack for knowing what's on a friend's mind before they can say it. This causes some to think of him as a psychic or have some other type of spiritual power, as it did with X, but he himself thinks it a mixture of luck and practice. |

SpiritualityKallippos follows X's beliefs strictly for the most part, although even he himself is unsure whether this belief is true or for show. He has been told by X numerous times that he is deeply powerful, that he is special. For this reason, the two are considered to be in their own sect: as not everyone back home agreed with X... But some did. SubstancesWill not refuse them, but doesn't enjoy being under the influence. They just have a hard time saying no. |

Main Focus: Performer
This skill began when Kallippos felt an immediate bond with his horse, Patience, when he took ownership of the mare. They learned how to take care of horses through her, as well as tended to the other horses the band had on the road. They also tended to any other livestock owned by the traveling sect. They began to teach Patience, and other animals, tricks in their spare time. Now Kallippos is comfortable with most common animals and has a way with teaching them.
Kallippos will sometimes act in plays that the Tabernacle Circus puts on. They take these skills and use them to magnify their supposed 'fortune telling'.

Description: From Carnalis' catalog of tamed horses. Horses are important in Carnalis culture: they aid in chasing down canines that are deemed prey. Patience was particularly spoiled as a foal, but the attention luckily did not involve the reinforcement of any bad habits. Although, she has developed some separation anxiety.
One look at her and you can tell she's not from around here. Patience is likely of Spanish horse ancestry. Patience follows her namesake: she is generally calm even with the most inexperienced riders. However, she can spook easily, especially due to the fact that she is adjusting to the colder climate of Canada. She needs her owner and their blankets to survive, and seems to know this fact. She prefers to stay close to Kallippos and becomes anxious if she hasn't seen a friendly face in a while.

5. History
5.1 Pre-'Souls
Kallippos never knew his mother.
With his father not being around either, Kallippos would have never survived if not for his grandmother being present during his birth. His grandmother raised him, though his siblings were stillborn. His mother had another litter before his, but they had long since departed. By the time he reached adulthood, his grandmother's health had begun to steadily decline. Unwilling to stay around and witness her passing, Kallippos fled his original home territory.
He then landed right in Carnalis.
Chased down by trackers on horseback, the cult imprisoned Kallippos in their small town. This is where he met Exodus "X" Crux for the very first time. For his own sadistic purposes, X kept Kallippos alive rather than turning him into a sacrifice for the cult. Kallippos caught on quickly to this type of life. After only a few weeks, he appeared to know what X was thinking before he said it outloud or acted. Already turned into a Luperci from the abuse he endured under X, their relationship began to blossom in the twisted visits. Kallippos views the way he acted as just a means to survive, but Exodus saw it as more than that. Much more.
Perhaps, one could argue, it was lucky that Exodus took a liking to him. Kallippos might be inclined to agree. He finds himself at odds with the man at every turn, but can't imagine life without him now. By all accounts, their relationship only grew nicer, rather than meaner. But at such an awful start point, it's hard to imagine how it could've gotten worse.
Because not all of Carnalis accepted the way Exodus felt about Kallippos, the two departed with some other Carnalis members in late 2021. This happened after Kallippos' Coming of Age ritual, in which Kallippos had to fight to the death with another previously imprisoned canine. During this fight he unleashed all of the resentment and rage that he had buried deep inside of him. He still wonders if he made the right decision to this day, or if he should have given up before he committed an act so heinous.
Exodus is also the one responsible for the scar on the left side of Kallippos' face. After his Coming of Age ritual, Kallippos can't muster up any anger about this fact. They feel it's not worth getting upset over anyway: the eye is blind now, and there's nothing they can do about it.
