Other Information

  • Pre-adoption changes to this character MAY BE acceptable.
    • I'd prefer the player not change the basic character, but expanding upon traits or altering them through backstory (perhaps John grew less arrogant due to some event in his past) is okay with discussion.
  • This character DOES NOT have additional constraints on their adoption.
  • Selected Relations:
    • John's father is Wayne McCoy, the former stable master of Casa di Cavalieri; his brother, Cody lived in AniWaya.
    • One of his siblings is up for adoption -- why not grab a friend and join the board together?

1.  Appearance

1.1  Basics

Essentials

  • Species: John is the most wolfish of his siblings, though his heritage very, very obviously contains dog -- it's especially reminiscent of his German Shepherd blood, and some Greyhound in his legs.
  • Fur: He has thick, coarse, wolfish fur with perhaps just a hint of additional feathering.
    • Optime Hair: Medium-short, with a "forelock" falling between ears. He thinks it looks cool when spiked, but he might change his style.
  • Facial Features: John has an almost purely wolfy face, with a long muzzle and broad head. His ears are erect and wolf-shaped, but their size tilts more toward dog.
  • Build and Size: His build is lean and slender, very wolfish. He's balanced, lithe and tough, with a narrow chest. His legs are slim and long, but this is as much reality as mere proportion; he is somewhat tall in height.

Interaction

  • Speech: Southern accent, though might try to hide it if he thinks it'll make him look lame.
  • Scent: Horses, grass, dust, metal.
  • Quirks, Gestures, Etc.: John's often grinning. He likes to make expressions with his eyebrows and often uses gestures, such as casual salutes, when greeting others or talking with his hands. He thinks he's cool.
  • General Posture and Body Language: John has humanized posture, but also very lazy posture. He usually has a hand stuffed in a pocket or leans his tall body against something vertical.

2.  Personality

  • Charismatic and talented, John is a bit of a rebel and a troublemaker. He is sly and quick-acting, finding entertainment largely through wild antics and getting in trouble.
  • Due to his talent in things such as horseback riding, he is rather arrogant. This is coupled with a dangerous naivety, which leads him into a lot of bad situations -- for example, thinking he can randomly break a wild mustang by riding it until it's tired, when he'll likely get thrown off and trampled to death. Fellow kids are charmed by this, while adults hate it.
  • When it comes down to it, behind his rehearsed charisma, John is pretty dorky.

2.1  Ideals

Traits

Charismatic, arrogant, dorky

  • Outlook: Optimistic
  • Sociability: Extroverted
  • Expression: Dominant
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Motivations

  • Popularity -- being cool, talented, awesome
  • something

Fears

  • Not being popular! D:
  • something

Biases

  • Packs:
    • Casa di Cavalieri was his father's pack. A place with good morals but a warrior focus that alienated his father.
    • Anathema is bad: aggressive, slave-driving, stupid.
    • CdA, CdM, AW are other good packs.
  • Species: Most comfortable with dog hybrids. Loves all equines!

Sexuality

  • ???
  • Likely to be "obviously" promiscuous, but inexperienced and awkward and dorky and cute when it comes down to it.

Interests

  • Likes: Horses and livestock, open fields, being awesome, himself, wild animals, races, trees
  • Dislikes: Animal abusers, rules, lame people

Substances

  • ???
  • Exposed to beer and tobacco, likely to partake (if it's viewed as cool)

Spirituality

  • ???
  • Father believed weakly in the Abrahamic God as a concept and something to swear to. Mother disdained religion, thinking only the weak needed it to guide morals.

3.  Relationships

3.1  Family: Families

3.2  Relations

Key Relations

  • Chevelle Dallas: John takes after his mother and her wild, selfish nature the most of all his siblings. They're friends as well as kin, generally getting into trouble together.
  • Cassidy Dallas: His favorite sister. John is generally the reason Cassidy gets into trouble, giving her a rebellious outlet for her energy. They like to play pranks and have fun together.

Positive Relations

  • Wayne McCoy: John somewhat hero-worships his father, though while he adores him and is eager to learn from him, he generally disdains the discipline that comes with his lessons. Still, he thinks his dad is cool -- which is more than Wayne even expects from him.
  • Annie McCoy: John likes Annie enough, even if she's occasionally "boring." He doesn't hang out with her often, but he is very protective of her and will stand up for her if others tease her. After all -- he's the only one allowed to do so!

Neutral / Negative

  • Cody Dallas: John butts heads with his responsible brother. They argue often, and John thinks Cody is a "lame stick-in-the-mud." He can occasionally be mean-spirited toward his brother but mostly makes a habit of avoiding him.
  • boop boop

3.3  NPCs

Kid

Basics

Credit: Jo Naylor @ Flickr

  • Gender: Female
  • Species: Mule
  • Date of Birth: ???

Description

Kid is a large, dark-colored mule with light, almost whitish tan on her muzzle, underbelly, and around her eyes. The top of her body, including her bristly mane, is sun-bleached and so a lighter reddish-black compared to her inky legs. She is tall and fit, the perfect companion for John.

About

Kid is a high-energy mule, rather dominant and outgoing. She likes to cause trouble and press her luck, both with other equines and her rider. She's definitely stubborn, generally going against orders, but unlike many mules doesn't obviously hate being thrown into risky and new situations. Bullheaded and eager, she loves to work, and often chases around smaller animals, like cattle and young horses, even when "off the clock."

History

  • Raised by Chevelle Dallas, a younger sibling of her mule Sonny.
  • Left behind in the States, traded off to a kindly cattleherd.
  • Reunited with Chevelle upon her return and the cattleherd's death.
  • Gifted to John when he came of age.

4.  Skills and Inventory

4.1  Abilities

Livestock

  • Education and Learning: John was taught a wide range of skills with livestock, especially horses, from both his parents -- masters in their own right. He has a powerful fundamental understanding of these skills, though he's still inexperienced due to his young age.
  • Please note: as of writing, John is only 7 months old -- giving him ~1 month's experience directly riding and doing other Optime-needed skills. Skills are written as if he's had a few more months' experience. He's good with horses, but not that good!
  • Horses (Riding) (Journeyman): John is a comfortable and proficient rider thanks to learning to ride as soon as he could shift. He can put an easygoing horse through all its paces and even knows a few more impressive techniques, such as staying on a bucking horse.
  • Horses (Maintenance, Care) (Journeyman): John knows the basics of how to care for horses -- feeding, grooming, basic signs of illness, other needs. He was put to work at a very young age helping his parents take care of their herd.
  • Horses (Training) (Dabbler): John knows the basics of how to train horses -- mostly foals. He understands the general process of breaking them to halter and saddle, though he has not directly partaken in the act.
  • Wrangling (Dabbler): John has witnessed his parents capture and control wild livestock, and helped by keeping watch and holding ropes. He's also tried to wrangle a few animals on his own -- with disastrous results.
  • Herding (Apprentice): John has witnessed his parents herd cattle and had a small hand in helping. Because his mount is used to herding, John knows a little more about the process.
  • John is very young and therefore rather inexperienced. He can ride a horse as well as any kid who's grown up in the saddle, but he doesn't know how to deal with many situations, and tends to be a bit clueless with timid and spooking animals. His childhood has given him a strong advantage, and he can eventually grow to master this art, but until he comes across new scenarios and falls on his butt once in a while, he's only as good as his age.
  • His "ability" to do things such as wrangle animals is generally sheer luck, and it's a wonder he hasn't been killed attempting to "tame a wild stallion." His herding, also, is hampered by his boldness and overestimation of his skills; most of the work is really Kid's.

Miscellaneous

  • Education and Learning: These skills were learned from various teachers, from his parents and uncle to random strangers and acquaintances who came by to help with the herd.
  • Hunting (Apprentice): John can track and hunt somewhat well in his Lupus and Secui forms. He works best in a group, though he does like to chase rabbits on his own!
  • Climbing (Apprentice): Like his uncle Dodge, John has a love for climbing trees and can often be found up in one, whether to enjoy some alone time or pull pranks on unsuspecting Luperci below.
  • and over here go some weaknesses~

5.  History

John and his siblings were born in the southwestern United States to Chevelle Dallas. The first few months of their life, they knew only their mother and Uncle Dodge and their horses. Both worked hard to keep the children cared for as they traveled, which they did a lot of; the pups quite literally grew up in the saddle.

Their father, Wayne McCoy, joined them (coming from Casa di Cavalieri) when they were not quite shifting age. The small family band joined up with a group of ranchers that Chevelle knew, working to raise horses and cattle. The children learned horsemanship and other skills from both parents, and when they came of age, received steeds of their own.

John was about nine months old when his sister Annie decided to travel to eastern Canada, the setting of bedtime stories Wayne raised the pups on -- including the knights of Cavalieri and their allies. Soon, a stranger on the run, Colm Erskine, passed through the area, Wayne told the man about Nova Scotia as a potential haven and place for work -- and the three remaining children announced their intention to go with the man. Wayne sent his children off with stoic advice.

The trio traveled with Colm for two months to reach New Brunswick, learning both from the man and from experience along the way, battling inexperience and exhaustion and the cold winter. They arrived in February and split off to find their father's old pack and look for their sister. John and Cassidy went off on their own; the siblings were separated from each other because of the Spring 2015 Flood.
