Jeremiah's family were descendants of the dogs from a prominent breeder of Australian shepherds in eastern Tennessee. The breeder's last name was Holt, and so when the human pandemic occurred and the breeder's dogs became Luperci, they took on this last name. Terrified of what had become of the world since their human caretakers had passed, the Holt shepherds huddled together and formed a tight-knit community on the Holt estate. They were quite wary of the outside world and refused to allow outsiders to join the community unless they were of pure Aussie blood.
By the time Jeremiah was born in 2009, the Holt shepherds had taught themselves to read and write, and had discovered a preserved Christian Bible. The community had indoctrinated itself to the teachings of Christianity, and followed a simple and strictly religious way of life, not unlike the Amish communities of the human era. Jeremiah, like the rest of the community, grew up with strong faith and devotion to Christ. However, once he became a teenager, he began to have what were thought of as very un-Christlike feelings -- namely, a strong attraction to other males.
He kept these feelings to himself for months, until the agony of self-denial became too much and he told his immediate family. As was the Holt way, Jeremiah was shunned -- not banished, but not allowed to attend community functions, and not even allowed to eat dinner at the same table as his family. The hope was that the shame would bring him back into the fold, but Jeremiah went the opposite route. He couldn't stand to go back to a life of agonized secrecy, and with being an outcast his only other option within the Holt community, he left, his only companion a Rocky Mountain horse by the name of Black.
Jeremiah joined Salsola and did a whole bunch of nothing before his player disappeared. Again.
Jeremiah befriended Eris Eternity when she invited him into the pack. He also gave his horse as a gift to the Boss. And started to help build a barn. That was pretty much the extent of his activity.
Jeremiah is soft-spoken and non-confrontational. Despite his self-imposed exile from his religious community, he is still deeply devout and struggles with what he feels is a contradiction between what the Bible tells him and what he feels.
Jeremiah is a pure-bred blue merle Australian shepherd. His dense, plush coat is mostly a mottling of "blue" (a bluish-grey) and black. The mottling is indistinct on the longer hair of his body, but concentrates to more distinct spots around his ears and eyes, as well as on the shorter hair of his legs. His fur turns to white around his muzzle, and this bleeds down to a large white patch on his chest and a thin white collar around his shoulders. All four paws are white, as well as his underbelly and the tip of his tail. Large splotches of black cover both ears. His eyes are a warm mocha-brown.
Jeremiah rarely if ever utilizes his Lupus or Secui forms; due to his upbringing, he prefers to remain primarily in Optime form. While in this form he dons simple leather workpants and a laced-up collarless white shirt. He is of medium stature and while he appears lean, his muscle are hardened from years of manual work.
