Gilderoy Huxley is a traveling coymutt who's been brainwashed into exacting revenge on those who murdered his uncle.

He is the son of Priam Nothing and Wander, the youngest of their eight children, born at an old ski lodge in New Brunswick. He lived in close quarters with his family for much of his life, enjoying a cottoned upbringing that sequestered him and his siblings from hardship and scandal. However, at the same time, Gilderoy was being privately conditioned into a pseudo-sleeper agent by the lingering spirit of Cirael June, who still possesses his father. CJ had feigned weakness and dormancy for years while often seizing control of the family's patriarch when he slept, and it was during these blackouts that "Priam" would steal Gilderoy away for hours, cultivating an extremist and swearing him to secrecy (a la Fight Club).

Just a child, impressionable and eager to please his father, Gilderoy was easy prey; he also turned out to be a cunning liar, and CJ found him surprisingly malleable to the concept of covert crime. Adventurous and misguided, the boy found pride in the mere fact he'd been chosen over his many siblings for such a wildly secret task, and it only served to sweeten the deal for Gilderoy, who believes he's doing what his father wants. Due to clever displays of innocence and well-crafted excuses, none of his family ever became aware of Gilderoy's Manchurian candidacy, and Priam remained unaware of his own haunting relapses.

A few months shy of his second birthday, Gilderoy stole away from the family cabin one night with the intent to fulfill his private mission, but was followed by one of his littermates, Nightingale, who refused to turn back after being discovered. He begrudgingly accepted her presence, and together the siblings made way for Inferni.

1.  Appearance

1.1  Basics

Essentials

  • Species: Gilderoy is most obviously a hybrid, with a mixed set of features that are typical of sighthounds, coyotes, and wolves. At a distance, however, he appears most like a coyote.
  • Fur: Short and soft, growing long in places like his neck, chest, shoulders, hips, and tail.
    • Optime Hair: Thick, choppy locks that curl slightly at the ends and settle just above his shoulders.
  • Facial Features: Wolfish, besides a pair of tall, round ears and a rather narrow profile. His muzzle is straight and squarish.
  • Build and Size: Though shorter and much more lean than most wolves, he is stronger and boxier than what is considered average for his dominant species.
    • Lupus: 29 in (73 cm) — 65 lbs (29 kg)
    • Secui: 43 in (109 cm) — 140 lbs (63 kg)
    • Optime: 6 ft 0 in (182 cm) — 200 lbs (90 kg)
  • Humanization: Low -- tends to wear very few accessories.

Interaction

  • Speech: He has a medium-pitched voice, and no particular accent. He typically sounds light-hearted, if not a bit blase and mischievous.
  • Scent: Roy smells primarily of a mixed breed -- dog, coyote, wolf -- and of variously earthy woods. He carries the lesser accents of his sister, horse, raven, and moose.
  • Quirks, Gestures, Etc.: Gilderoy tends to keep his hands busy, and he makes a lot of eye contact.
  • General Posture and Body Language: Casual and loose with an understated air of aggression. Roy generally strikes others as relaxed or unconcerned, though a sharper eye will notice that he's perpetually "ready," and looking for a challenge.

Scars, Tattoos, etc.

Roy has several noticeable scars; most of them from combat training or scraps with his siblings, though a few seem to have more curious origins (read: self-inflicted).

Accessories

Impartial to covering up or restricting his movement, Gilderoy only wears things of practical or sentimental value. He switches forms often, and prefers not to be burdened.

    • Smaller, parallel scar beside left eye

2.  Personality

2.1  Summary

  • Bold, Coltish, Emotional, Diligent, and Vain

Due to his upbringing, Gilderoy has developed two distinct personalities within himself: the devil-may-care hooligan, and the radicalized soldier. Though he generally employs the former in day-to-day life, the latter isn't always so easily contained. Because of this, he struggles constantly with his concept of identity, and consequentially spends a lot of time brooding over an existential crisis he can never overcome without the truth of his circumstances.

4.  Relationships

4.1  Family

4.2  Connections

Primary

  • Nightingale has remained his closest sibling since before he'd learned the meaning of the word. He was not very surprised to find that she had followed him on his journey, and though he's lied to her about his intentions, he considers her to be his best friend and only confidant.
  • Priam is the man Roy wants to be. He admires him deeply, and would do anything to make him proud.
  • Cirael June is a vengeful spirit that possess his father. He has skillfully woven his way into Roy's life and has tricked him into believing that he's completing the "life's work" of his father by bringing those who murdered his uncle to justice.

Secondary

  • Wander has an irreplaceable position in Roy's heart. She is the only one who could ever placate his wild moods and he's easily the biggest mama's boy of all his siblings.
  • Beau and Moss were his childhood bullies, for lack of a better term. They coined his (initially scathing) nickname Little Gil, and nearly always bested him in the harshest manner they could manage without receiving punishment. Because of them, he has a severely competitive nature and is prone to reacting badly when teased.
