Born Eira Gry, Elva Kai has had a long, troublesome life. Once, she lived a simple life with her parents in Northern Sweden where she sought to learn all that there was to learn. At the tender age of 4 months old, Elva was taken from her home and thrust into the life of slavery. She took a new name, began to shift, and forgot what it meant to truly live. Now freed from slavery, she is working to explore what it means to be free and just who she is.

She is currently a Greenhorn in Krokar.

  • Date of Birth: 20th of June, 2015
  • Gender: Female
  • Luperci: Ortus
  • Residence: Fiskbyn?, House 19
  • Mate: --
  • Pack: Krokar
  • Rank: Greenhorn
  • cNPC: An old, black cat that has no name. Perpetually in a bad mood, it basically adopted Elva and now does its best to take care of her. It can speak high speech incredibly fluently.

  • She's brand new to Krokar, show her around and teach her how to do stuff!
  • She's a very malleable character. Does someone want to influence/persuade her to follow their way of life?

Krokar members may assume and reference the following without discussion/asking:

  • Knowing that she is an ex-slave
  • Knowing where she lives
  • Seeing her walking around, alone or with her cat tailing after her (probably screaming).

1.  Appearance

1.1  Basics

  • Species: A motley of different species, Elva looks like nothing in particular. From her wolf heritage, she was given thick, coarse fur, a thick muzzle, and large paws. Her dog ancestors graced her with a single folded ear, long fur that curls on her ears, and long, sturdy legs. What she shows most of them though is in her large, downturned eyes that seem to always look sad. In her general shape, she seems to most take after the coyote. Though she is larger like the wolf and dog in her, she shows a similar build to a coyote in lean muscles and very little curves. From the jackals, she seems to have only gained a single trait: a single ear that stands straight up. Unlike her wolf, dog, or coyote heritage, it is quite large in comparison to the size of the rest of her head.
  • Fur: Elva's fur is very, very thick and and long. When she's at her most healthy, her coat is coarse and very shiny but when malnourished it takes on a dull, lifeless luster and is rather brittle to the touch.
    • Optime Hair: Elva tends to keep her hair cut fairly short, though rarely cropped. Usually between chin and shoulder length, her hair seems to want to curl. Were it longer, she would have long thick curls, but kept short, it takes on a fluffy appearance. It frames her face in a way that accentuates the size of her eyes and ears and makes her seem very youthful.
  • Facial Features: Elva's face is a very young one, despite its scars. Her ears and eyes are almost too large for her, her muzzle short and boxy like a wolf. With a mix of youth in her features and age in her leanness, expression, and scarring, Elva seems almost ageless.
  • Build and Size: Elva's height is on the low end of average for a wolf or dog, but she is quite large for a coyote. Elva's build is very androgynous. For whatever reason, the girl never developed breasts and her hips never really spread like most females' seemed to. Instead, she kept her stick straight figure. She has an average athletic build for a preteen/teenage boy.
    • Lupus: In lupus form, Elva seems to look like a coyote with an even mix of dog and wolf thrown in. Lean, yet not thin or dainty by any means, she gives of the appearance of someone who may or may not have been raised as a scavenger of other's meals rather than having a well balanced diet. Her paws, ears, and eyes all seem slightly large for her build giving her a puppyish appearance despite her grown size.
    • Optime: In her two legged form, Elva could be mistaken for a boy at first glance. Average height, she has no curves to speak of. She has an almost stocky build. Were she taller, she could be considered lean but her abundance of thick fur makes her seem broader than she really is. She has no breasts, no defining waist line, her hips and thighs have no curves aside from muscle. Her hands are large and her fingers long. Her hips and shoulders are narrow. Her hair is usually kept cut no longer than her shoulders, usually something like this or this.
  • Humanization: Elva was raised to be very humanized, but she still displays a feral attitude. She remains in her optime form constantly and is never rarely seen without clothing of some sort, but she doesn't wear clothing out of modesty. She doesn't really view herself as naked without it, but wears it anyway because she was taught that that was what she was supposed to do. Her posture isn't feral, typically, but she does display feral behaviors such as keeping her ears back, eyes down, tail down or between her legs. Her arm are normally held crossed around her chest or holding her waist and her shoulders are always slumped because of it.

  • Fur:
    • Alabaster (#f3eee3) is the main coat color
    • Dust Storm (#e0d28E) is the secondary coat color
  • Markings:
    • White smoke (#f7f3f0) paws and chest
    • Light taupe (#7a7a7a) face markings, neck, scruff, and tail tip.
    • Dark vanilla (#cabca2) back, surrounding white markings, and tail.
  • Eyes: Rosewood (#620300)
  • Optime Hair: Light taupe (#7a7a7a)
    • Nose and Paw Pads: Her skin color is licorice (#1F1611)

1.2  Miscellaneous

  • Scars: Elva has many, many scars that all have their own story.
    • Three slashes on right jaw, the longest of which reaches to under her eye
    • Two on her muzzle/lips on the left side, they wrap over her muzzle to left side
    • Chunk out of upright ear
    • Bite out of left forearm
    • Cuts on right shoulder
    • Across lower back
    • Inner thigh
    • Many small knicks one her hands and fingers that are usually only visible in optime
  • Piercings:
    • None
  • Tattoos:
    • None

Elva typically just wears whatever she's given and continues to wear it until it's absolutely unusable. She doesn't really care what it looks like or what purpose it serves. She's going to tear it up anyway.

Jewelry and Accessories

  • She wears a triple chain collar that looks like this. It's made of metal so she can't break it.

  • None at the moment

70 lbs (32 kg)
27 in (69 cm)

Elva is usually only in this form when sleeping or hunting. Being a hybrid of sorts, she has somehow managed to come out looking like an adolescent permanently. She's lean almost to the point of being gangly, has large ears and paws... She looks like she needs to grow into herself, but she never will. This is actually the form that she is most comfortable in, but she was made to stay in optime at all times when around her masters and is uneasy when around her superiors in lupus. She feels vulnerable in this form and will immediately attempt to shift if she finds she is not alone.

130 lbs (59 kg)
40 in (101 cm)

Elva actively avoids this form because of her masters' 'negative reinforcements'

190 lbs (86 kg)
6ft 0in (72 in / 182 cm)

Optime (Preferred)

Elva is almost always in this form. It's what she was taught was the appropriate form to do work in. Though she's not necessarily comfortable in this form, it's what she's most comfortable in around others because she feels least vulnerable in it.

  • Speech: Elva's voice is usually kept very quiet and submissive, but it's strangely deep for a woman's. Perhaps it's because she constantly speaks in a low whisper, or close to it, that her voice is deepened the way it is, but it could almost be mistaken for an older boy's.
  • Scent: She smells of books, soil, and soap. She vaguely still smells of rope and sea from her time on the ship, though it's fading fast.
  • Quirks, Gestures, Etc.: Picks at and destroys whatever clothing she is wearing at the time if she's not doing anything else with her hands. If she's nervous or scared, she'll pull at her folded ear.
  • General Posture and Body Language: Elva has a very humanized, erect stance, but it is very submissive. Her tail is lowered, ears pinned back, and shoulders hunched forward around her. She never looks people in the eye and tends to pull away if they draw too near. Sudden movements make her tense up and/or flinch away.

2.  Personality

Pure Is Not Good - Ambiguous Innocence - Alone In A Crowd - Emotion Suppression - Hope Is Scary - Empty Shell - Dark And Troubled Past - Innocent Prodigy - Encyclopaedic Knowledge - Intelligence Equals Isolation

  • Innocent, Isolated, No Sense of Self
    • Elva has been raised in a manner that has sheltered her from the world. This leaves her ignorant to truth, normalcy, and society. As such, she doesn't have any real sense of right or wrong. She has no sense of morality and has never had any way to form her own. Elva was taught that she had no opinion, no worth. Anything her master did was what was right and it was not her place to question.
      • She will look away from any crime done in her presence because it's "not her place" to question the actions of others. Nor will she help others without prompting.
    • She has never really had the chance to interact with people, specifically women. She doesn't know what it's like to have peers let alone friends. Her social skills only include the rules that she had to follow to interact with her master.
      • When approached by others in an attempt to socialize, Elva tends to balk in fear. She doesn't know how to react in the situation and will flee if possible. She avoids others.
    • As a conglomeration of all of these things, Elva has no sense of self. She doesn't understand what it's like to be able to have wishes or desires. She was taught that she was not to have any opinion. Her only role is to follow orders and to be whatever she is needed to be. She doesn't know how to form attachment. Without the rigid structure of slavery and the command of another, she is left and empy shell of a person.
  • Emotionless, Anxious, Troubled
    • Elva's past has led her to live in constant fear. It was never known when you would be beaten or sold. You should never grow attached because you could get sent away when you woke up in the morning. She's learned to push down all sense of hope, happiness, and even anger. There is no sense in being angry, it will only get you hurt even worse. This doesn't mean that she truly has no emotions. She merely has no way of coping with them and she expresses it in the destruction of her clothes and whatever's in her hands.
  • Intellectually Brilliant
    • Elva's mind is like a steel trap. Her memory contains every book she's ever read and conversation she's heard word for word. Usually, she doesn't know what to do with this knowledge as it is not a working knowledge, but it is there. Nothing said in her presence will ever be forgotten, though she's unlikely to do anything with it. Don't be surprised if she quotes you if you try to trick her.
    • She's not just a memory. Elva is skilled in the art of strategy. Whether it is natural brilliance or honed from a life of walking on eggshells, she's actually quite skilled in manipulating the situation to her advantage whenever possible. She seeks out the most efficient route in all scenarios.
      • Elva does not make it well known how brilliant she is. She can plan out the perfect plan of action for every daily task or event within moments, but she won't tell you unless asked. She will not help you unless you tell her to. It's better to be underestimated than overestimated.
  • Dark
    • Perhaps it's because she's never had anything that has really defined her moral compass, perhaps it's because she's never really had anything that's pushed her to the edge. Whatever the reason, Elva has never really delved into exploration of this part of her, but it does exist. This part of her that is merciless, cruel, and unrelenting. She's vaguely aware that she has no qualms with murder or theivery, but she's never experienced anything to really test this. It will occasionally show itself in her scary rationality and lack of emotion, but it can often be written off as "Oh, that's just the most logical course of action, she doesn't actually think that." She really does think that. Don't be fooled by her cute puppy dog eyes. She would disembowel you without second thoughts.

2.1  Ideals

Anxious, Intelligent, Eidetic Memory, Amoral, Innocent

  • Outlook: Elva always believes the worst in everyone and in every situation.
  • Sociability: HIGHLY introverted and submissive. It's hard to get her to speak or make eye contact.
  • Expression: Submissive
  • Alignment: True Neutral/Chaotic Neutral

  • Avoiding anything that would lower her standing or harm her

  • Death: For someone who has seen death up close and has come near herself, she does not find herself growing used to it. She has not become numb to the idea of dying. It terrifies her above anything else and the only thing she WANTS in this life is to survive.
  • Something: something something

  • Packs: Anathema? took her in when she was sick. Krokar is her new home.
  • Species: No species is less worse than the others
  • Non-Luperci: She envies them, to a certain degree.
  • Gender: All of her masters have been men so far so she greatly fears them. Women are a mystery to her. The women of Krokar are something to be feared.
  • Color: None
  • Sexuality: Is usually surrounded by single men. She doesn't really know of or understand relationships regardless of sex.
  • Age: Children frighten and confuse her.

Elva has an incredibly warped sexuality. She HAS a libido, but she doesn't feel the need to act upon it. She is definitely not attracted to men, but she's never really met any women she's attracted to. She's probably homoromantic-demisexual or homosexual. However, she was taught to never refuse another's advances. No matter how much she wants to.

  • Likes: Reading, Chess, Learning, Being alone
  • Dislikes: Large crowds, Loud noises, Pain
    • Maybe a BIG DISLIKE HERE

She's never tried any, but isn't opposed to it. Would likely succumb to addiction easily.

She doesn't believe in a god or an afterlife (as in a heaven or hell). She sees/hears ghosts and spirits and strongly believes in their existence, but they frighten her to no end. She believes that there is a personification of death and that he appears differently for everyone.

3.  Relationships

* Does not know this person by name.

3.1  Family: Families

3.2  Relations

Key Relations

  • Persimmon Fell TBA
  • Cat? seems to think he's Elva's personal guardian. Elva doesn't particularly like or dislike him. She finds him an annoying but necessary presence in her life.

Positive Relations

  • Asuilaak was one of the first people to ever react negatively to her past. She doesn't understand it, but he seems to mean well. She entrusted him with her only book.
  • Shtiya, a companion of Asuilaak treated her kindly, fed her, and gave her new clothing.
  • Milos Parhelion is also a former ex-slave who allowed her into Krokar. She owes him quite a bit.

Neutral / Negative

  • Raine Nightshade known to her as 'Oktar' Nightshade, beat her and left her for dead. Elva now is carrying a litter of his children much to her own dismay.

Minor Relations

template by Mandi

  • Gender: Tom
  • Birth Year: Unknown
  • Abilities:
    • High speech

An old, fat, nameless black cat. Like most cats, it has little regard for the wants of others. He's blunt, snarky, and too old to put up with nonsense unless it's his own. He's proud and has an amber carving of himself.

5.  Skills and Inventory

5.1  Abilities

  • Education and Learning: Most of this, unless otherwise specified, was either picked up as a result of her travels or taught by one of her masters.
  • Reading (Master): Elva can read English, Swedish, Italian and Spanish. She can read with great speed and accuracy, comprehending most of what she reads very easily. She also has nearly complete recall of anything that she reads.
  • Language (varies): She's learned many languages as a part of having a variety of masters and having been many places.
    • English (Master) - Her mother's native tongue and one she was taught at birth.
    • Swedish (Master) - Her father's native tongue and one she was taught at birth.
    • Italian (Journeyman) - One of her first masters primarily spoke this and she was forced to pick it up. It has been useful ever since, so she's continued using and learning it.
    • Spanish (Journeyman) - A fellow slave spoke this and learned it in order to communicate better with him. Though their time together was short-lived, she found it useful with a later master who taught her more and made her continue to use it.
    • French (Journeyman) - Many of the sailors spoke this and she picked it up during her time on the boat
    • German (Dabbler) - One sailor spoke this and she asked him to teach her. She can manage short conversations, mainly about ships and the sea.
    • Russian (Apprentice) - One of the sailors cursed in Russian, though he usually spoke Spanish. She picked up on the curses, but that's about it.
  • Writing (Apprentice) - She knows how to form letters, but is very unpracticed and it's usually illegible.
  • Mathematics (Apprentice) - Elva can count and do the basic math functions such as addition and subtraction.

  • Education and Learning: Elva spent the better part of a year on a ship and picked up quite a bit.
  • Navigation (Journeyman): The captain took great pride in teaching her how to navigate the ship after his last navigator took a tumble off of the ship's edge. Elva proved to be a fast learner and soon took over as the ship's navigator full-time.
  • Knots (Apprentice): One of the sailors had begun to teach her several different knots useful in sailing the ship, though she never got to put them to good use.
  • Climbing (Journeyman): Though it may not seem a skill, it takes a lot of work to climb the ropes in a ship, especially when it's moving due to a storm. Elva was forced to either get very good very quickly or fall to her death.

  • Education and Learning: All necessary parts of slavehood.
  • Cleaning (Master): Lot's of practice.
  • Mending (Journeyman): She can mend holes in clothes, but don't expect them to be particularly pretty.
  • Cooking (Apprentice?): It's not good. But it's not poisonous.
  • Personal Grooming (Master): Though she doesn't take particularly good care of herself, she's very well practiced in grooming and dressing others.

  • Education and Learning: Anything that doesn't really fit?
  • Chess (Master): The captain had a chess set, but no one to play it with, so he taught Elva. She's a natural at it.
  • Horse Grooming (Journeyman): She's not very comfortable with horses, but she can groom one if it'll stay still.
  • Stealth (Master): Part of being a slave is going unnoticed, so she was forced to learn how to go about without being heard or seen. It works out in her favor as well.

  • Education and Learning: Though she'd read many books on the subject, it was only during her time in Krokar that she really got to learn anything.
  • Plant Identification (Journeyman):
  • Planting (Apprentice):
  • Plant Care (Apprentice):

6.  History

6.1  Achievements

go get yo' catacombs template, son

  • The Before - Kallikrates was the daughter of a merchant who one day took up her father's trade. Stian Gry was a young nomad who saught nothing but happiness in life. The two stumbled upon each other in the woods one foggy morning and the rest was history. The two wanderers settled down and made their roots in the cold northern lands in Sweden, Stian's home. That summer, they were blessed with a beautiful baby boy that they named Felix. He seemed to have inherited their wanderlust, and they let him go for he always came back. They didn't know that he would travel to cities in order to gamble with the local merchants and that he only returned when he was fleeing from a lost bet. The next summer though, Kallikrates bore two living children this time, twins that they named Eira and Alvar.
  • The First Five Months - During her first few months of life, Eira Gry had a normal life with two loving parents, a protective older brother, and a twin who was her other half in all that they did. Eira and Alvar were never apart for longer than five minutes no matter how hard the parents tried to seperate them, knowing it would be difficult later in life. Felix even managed to stay home more often to help hunt and watch the children. It was he who taught the children how to joke and laugh and play pranks on their parents. When Eira and Alvar were about four months old, he disappeared for a few weeks. They didn't worry about it because it was normal for him, but when he came back, he was different. He didn't want to play, he didn't want to talk to them. He spent all his time inside their small cottage staring out the window and flinching when he saw people pass. It wasn't until the month the twins turned five months old that they found out why. A group of merchants knocked on their door, demanding Felix, but he wasn't there. He had fled at some point in the day, but it didn't matter for they would take their won bet anyway. Despite the parents' protests, they barged into the room looking for something. When they saw the children, the Kallikrates understood what had happened. She tried to fight them but was knocked unconscious. They snatched one of the children as Felix had promised them and left without a word. Kallikrates and Stian tried to chase after them, but they were too late.
  • The First Master - Though she didn't understand why she was taken, or why she had shifted so suddenly, Eira soon learned her fate. She was destined to be sold as a slave to the highest bidder to pay off her brother's debts. Her first master was a wealthy Italian dog. He taught her what bits of his language she needed to know to be of use and put her to work without realizing that she didn't know how to cook or clean or sew. Rather than teach her, he beat her until she learned. Eira, now named Elva Kai, didn't understand how to work under these conditions and was soon sold away to a new master.
  • The Second Master - The second was a packmate of the first, and no more patient. Rather than using her as a scullery maid, though, he made Elva useful as someone who could read his Bible to him, for his eyes were growing weak with age. He was not a gentle master, but he seemed to be more willing to put up with her slow pace. His children who lived with him often called upon her to help with small tasks, never taking no for an answer. When he died, she was sold to some merchants to be put up for auction at the market.
  • The Captain - After having spent many months as a slave, Elva was far more familiar with the situation at hand and presented herself well at the auction. By now, the submissive, docile behavior that was expected of her was habit rather than a forced facade. When the captain of a cargo ship spotted her, meek with an athletic-looking build, he decided to take her on to his ship. Though she was sick the first week, she was still put to work in cleaning the ship and learning the ins and outs of it. The captain was far more patient with teaching her and he taught her many things, though his reprimands were sharp and often painful if she made a mistake in something that he had already taught. It was here that she was granted access to a large quantity of books in many languages. If her work was done, she was free to return to the cargo bay and so long as everything returned to its place, no one asked questions. When Elva had learned all there was to cleaning and maintaining the ship, the navigator "fell" off the side of the ship. Elva took his place within a few months of learning how to navigate. Although the captain was harsh with his beatings and the sailors were handsy, she felt more at home on the ship than anywhere else, until she hit her first heat. Unaware of the changes her body was undergoing, she didn't understand what was coming or how to prepare herself. When the men came for her, she could not fight them off. The captain quickly found out what had happened, but did not punish his sailors. He couldn't expect anything else of men who had been without the comforts of women for far too long. He picked Elva up, told her to walk it off, and went on his merry way. This continued for the rest of her cycle, sometimes the captain himself joining in. When she found herself with child, she was fed an herb that made her sick for many weeks. The captain dropped her off at the nearest port when it became clear that a recovery would not come quickly.
  • The Last Master - The newest master was a travelling merchant. He didn't need anyone strong or skilled, just someone to keep an eye on his things and do menial tasks for him. Elva lost count of the days and weeks away from the ship as her new master traveled from the port in New Orleans to the north. Just outside of 'Souls, the small caravan the merchant traveled with was struck by bandits. ---TBA--- Freed and far from anything she had ever known, Elva wanders with a cat who claimed her as his own in New Orleans.
