Born Eira Gry, Elva Kai has had a long, troublesome life. Once, she lived a simple life with her parents in Northern Sweden where she sought to learn all that there was to learn. At the tender age of 4 months old, Elva was taken from her home and thrust into the life of slavery. She took a new name, began to shift, and forgot what it meant to truly live. Now freed from slavery, she is working to explore what it means to be free and just who she is.
She is currently a Greenhorn in Krokar.

AdornmentsElva typically just wears whatever she's given and continues to wear it until it's absolutely unusable. She doesn't really care what it looks like or what purpose it serves. She's going to tear it up anyway. | |

Forms
![]() 70 lbs (32 kg) LupusElva is usually only in this form when sleeping or hunting. Being a hybrid of sorts, she has somehow managed to come out looking like an adolescent permanently. She's lean almost to the point of being gangly, has large ears and paws... She looks like she needs to grow into herself, but she never will. This is actually the form that she is most comfortable in, but she was made to stay in optime at all times when around her masters and is uneasy when around her superiors in lupus. She feels vulnerable in this form and will immediately attempt to shift if she finds she is not alone. |
![]() 130 lbs (59 kg) SecuiElva actively avoids this form because of her masters' 'negative reinforcements' |
![]() 190 lbs (86 kg) Optime (Preferred)Elva is almost always in this form. It's what she was taught was the appropriate form to do work in. Though she's not necessarily comfortable in this form, it's what she's most comfortable in around others because she feels least vulnerable in it. |
Interaction
- Speech: Elva's voice is usually kept very quiet and submissive, but it's strangely deep for a woman's. Perhaps it's because she constantly speaks in a low whisper, or close to it, that her voice is deepened the way it is, but it could almost be mistaken for an older boy's.
- Scent: She smells of books, soil, and soap. She vaguely still smells of rope and sea from her time on the ship, though it's fading fast.
- Quirks, Gestures, Etc.: Picks at and destroys whatever clothing she is wearing at the time if she's not doing anything else with her hands. If she's nervous or scared, she'll pull at her folded ear.
- General Posture and Body Language: Elva has a very humanized, erect stance, but it is very submissive. Her tail is lowered, ears pinned back, and shoulders hunched forward around her. She never looks people in the eye and tends to pull away if they draw too near. Sudden movements make her tense up and/or flinch away.

2. Personality
Pure Is Not Good - Ambiguous Innocence - Alone In A Crowd - Emotion Suppression - Hope Is Scary - Empty Shell - Dark And Troubled Past - Innocent Prodigy - Encyclopaedic Knowledge - Intelligence Equals Isolation
- Innocent, Isolated, No Sense of Self
- Elva has been raised in a manner that has sheltered her from the world. This leaves her ignorant to truth, normalcy, and society. As such, she doesn't have any real sense of right or wrong. She has no sense of morality and has never had any way to form her own. Elva was taught that she had no opinion, no worth. Anything her master did was what was right and it was not her place to question.
- She will look away from any crime done in her presence because it's "not her place" to question the actions of others. Nor will she help others without prompting.
- She has never really had the chance to interact with people, specifically women. She doesn't know what it's like to have peers let alone friends. Her social skills only include the rules that she had to follow to interact with her master.
- When approached by others in an attempt to socialize, Elva tends to balk in fear. She doesn't know how to react in the situation and will flee if possible. She avoids others.
- As a conglomeration of all of these things, Elva has no sense of self. She doesn't understand what it's like to be able to have wishes or desires. She was taught that she was not to have any opinion. Her only role is to follow orders and to be whatever she is needed to be. She doesn't know how to form attachment. Without the rigid structure of slavery and the command of another, she is left and empy shell of a person.
- Emotionless, Anxious, Troubled
- Elva's past has led her to live in constant fear. It was never known when you would be beaten or sold. You should never grow attached because you could get sent away when you woke up in the morning. She's learned to push down all sense of hope, happiness, and even anger. There is no sense in being angry, it will only get you hurt even worse. This doesn't mean that she truly has no emotions. She merely has no way of coping with them and she expresses it in the destruction of her clothes and whatever's in her hands.
- Intellectually Brilliant
- Elva's mind is like a steel trap. Her memory contains every book she's ever read and conversation she's heard word for word. Usually, she doesn't know what to do with this knowledge as it is not a working knowledge, but it is there. Nothing said in her presence will ever be forgotten, though she's unlikely to do anything with it. Don't be surprised if she quotes you if you try to trick her.
- She's not just a memory. Elva is skilled in the art of strategy. Whether it is natural brilliance or honed from a life of walking on eggshells, she's actually quite skilled in manipulating the situation to her advantage whenever possible. She seeks out the most efficient route in all scenarios.
- Elva does not make it well known how brilliant she is. She can plan out the perfect plan of action for every daily task or event within moments, but she won't tell you unless asked. She will not help you unless you tell her to. It's better to be underestimated than overestimated.
- Dark
- Perhaps it's because she's never had anything that has really defined her moral compass, perhaps it's because she's never really had anything that's pushed her to the edge. Whatever the reason, Elva has never really delved into exploration of this part of her, but it does exist. This part of her that is merciless, cruel, and unrelenting. She's vaguely aware that she has no qualms with murder or theivery, but she's never experienced anything to really test this. It will occasionally show itself in her scary rationality and lack of emotion, but it can often be written off as "Oh, that's just the most logical course of action, she doesn't actually think that." She really does think that. Don't be fooled by her cute puppy dog eyes. She would disembowel you without second thoughts.

Biases
SexualityElva has an incredibly warped sexuality. She HAS a libido, but she doesn't feel the need to act upon it. She is definitely not attracted to men, but she's never really met any women she's attracted to. She's probably homoromantic-demisexual or homosexual. However, she was taught to never refuse another's advances. No matter how much she wants to. Interests
SubstancesShe's never tried any, but isn't opposed to it. Would likely succumb to addiction easily. |
Spirituality
She doesn't believe in a god or an afterlife (as in a heaven or hell). She sees/hears ghosts and spirits and strongly believes in their existence, but they frighten her to no end. She believes that there is a personification of death and that he appears differently for everyone.

An old, fat, nameless black cat. Like most cats, it has little regard for the wants of others. He's blunt, snarky, and too old to put up with nonsense unless it's his own. He's proud and has an amber carving of himself. |

Pre-'Souls
- The Before - Kallikrates was the daughter of a merchant who one day took up her father's trade. Stian Gry was a young nomad who saught nothing but happiness in life. The two stumbled upon each other in the woods one foggy morning and the rest was history. The two wanderers settled down and made their roots in the cold northern lands in Sweden, Stian's home. That summer, they were blessed with a beautiful baby boy that they named Felix. He seemed to have inherited their wanderlust, and they let him go for he always came back. They didn't know that he would travel to cities in order to gamble with the local merchants and that he only returned when he was fleeing from a lost bet. The next summer though, Kallikrates bore two living children this time, twins that they named Eira and Alvar.
- The First Five Months - During her first few months of life, Eira Gry had a normal life with two loving parents, a protective older brother, and a twin who was her other half in all that they did. Eira and Alvar were never apart for longer than five minutes no matter how hard the parents tried to seperate them, knowing it would be difficult later in life. Felix even managed to stay home more often to help hunt and watch the children. It was he who taught the children how to joke and laugh and play pranks on their parents. When Eira and Alvar were about four months old, he disappeared for a few weeks. They didn't worry about it because it was normal for him, but when he came back, he was different. He didn't want to play, he didn't want to talk to them. He spent all his time inside their small cottage staring out the window and flinching when he saw people pass. It wasn't until the month the twins turned five months old that they found out why. A group of merchants knocked on their door, demanding Felix, but he wasn't there. He had fled at some point in the day, but it didn't matter for they would take their won bet anyway. Despite the parents' protests, they barged into the room looking for something. When they saw the children, the Kallikrates understood what had happened. She tried to fight them but was knocked unconscious. They snatched one of the children as Felix had promised them and left without a word. Kallikrates and Stian tried to chase after them, but they were too late.
- The First Master - Though she didn't understand why she was taken, or why she had shifted so suddenly, Eira soon learned her fate. She was destined to be sold as a slave to the highest bidder to pay off her brother's debts. Her first master was a wealthy Italian dog. He taught her what bits of his language she needed to know to be of use and put her to work without realizing that she didn't know how to cook or clean or sew. Rather than teach her, he beat her until she learned. Eira, now named Elva Kai, didn't understand how to work under these conditions and was soon sold away to a new master.
- The Second Master - The second was a packmate of the first, and no more patient. Rather than using her as a scullery maid, though, he made Elva useful as someone who could read his Bible to him, for his eyes were growing weak with age. He was not a gentle master, but he seemed to be more willing to put up with her slow pace. His children who lived with him often called upon her to help with small tasks, never taking no for an answer. When he died, she was sold to some merchants to be put up for auction at the market.
- The Captain - After having spent many months as a slave, Elva was far more familiar with the situation at hand and presented herself well at the auction. By now, the submissive, docile behavior that was expected of her was habit rather than a forced facade. When the captain of a cargo ship spotted her, meek with an athletic-looking build, he decided to take her on to his ship. Though she was sick the first week, she was still put to work in cleaning the ship and learning the ins and outs of it. The captain was far more patient with teaching her and he taught her many things, though his reprimands were sharp and often painful if she made a mistake in something that he had already taught. It was here that she was granted access to a large quantity of books in many languages. If her work was done, she was free to return to the cargo bay and so long as everything returned to its place, no one asked questions. When Elva had learned all there was to cleaning and maintaining the ship, the navigator "fell" off the side of the ship. Elva took his place within a few months of learning how to navigate. Although the captain was harsh with his beatings and the sailors were handsy, she felt more at home on the ship than anywhere else, until she hit her first heat. Unaware of the changes her body was undergoing, she didn't understand what was coming or how to prepare herself. When the men came for her, she could not fight them off. The captain quickly found out what had happened, but did not punish his sailors. He couldn't expect anything else of men who had been without the comforts of women for far too long. He picked Elva up, told her to walk it off, and went on his merry way. This continued for the rest of her cycle, sometimes the captain himself joining in. When she found herself with child, she was fed an herb that made her sick for many weeks. The captain dropped her off at the nearest port when it became clear that a recovery would not come quickly.
- The Last Master - The newest master was a travelling merchant. He didn't need anyone strong or skilled, just someone to keep an eye on his things and do menial tasks for him. Elva lost count of the days and weeks away from the ship as her new master traveled from the port in New Orleans to the north. Just outside of 'Souls, the small caravan the merchant traveled with was struck by bandits. ---TBA--- Freed and far from anything she had ever known, Elva wanders with a cat who claimed her as his own in New Orleans.
