Diego del Bosque is a fire-dancer from Ceniza Valley. Intrigued by tales of lands beyond, he set off with his companions to find some place new, a search that ended in March 2016 when they reached Inferni. Diego was quick to establish himself as a culture-keeper, spreading his homeland's traditions and values in addition to learning and preaching those of Inferni's — something he considers particularly important for the preservation of the clan's heritage and for the welfare of its people. Friendly and well intentioned, Diego takes pleasure in spreading joy and making others laugh — oftentimes to the point of being annoying.
After the Inferni-Salsola War, of which Diego's role was trivial at best, he traveled with Luison back to Ceniza Valley to visit his old community. Luison thrived once she was back in an environment that better met her physiological and nutritional needs. As a result, she opted to remain behind in Ceniza Valley when Diego began his journey back to Inferni.
Along the trip home, Diego stayed with a group of coydogs in Minnesota. Revered by these Selmaskians for his pure coyote heritage, Diego was only too happy to allow a youngster from this community to join him back to Inferni. Impish and troublesome, Paninya did not share in her old tribe's opinions of him and Diego was quick to regret this choice, though he stuck it out. He returned to the coyote clan in May of 2018 with Paninya in tow.
Unfortunately, though things initially seemed promising with his return, things were quick to degrade within Inferni as summer wore on. A series of rainstorms pummeled the Eastern Realms toward the end of June 2018 and into July, resulting in flooding, an influx of mosquitoes and biting flies, and generally uncomfortable conditions. The rains degraded the integrity of the New Homestead? barn and several of the clan's animals grew ill, resulting in the decision to cull some of their livestock. This, compounded with the deaths of several clanmates and increasing unrest within the clan, drove Diego to leave Inferni and return south to Ceniza Valley.

2. Personality
- Diego is very friendly -- exuberant, talkative, and well-meaning, he is all about community. He makes it a habit to get to know everyone, especially those overlooked by others, and won't take no for an answer. Though he can seem shallow (prioritizing small-talk and flitting from person to person, schmoozing), he also deeply cares about the well-being of his clanmates. He's always the first to try to brighten someone's day, whether it means pulling a prank or just sitting to talk to them.
- Unfortunately, Diego is also insufferably arrogant and somewhat of an idiot. He's like the class clown and dumb jock tropes had a baby. Convinced of his own superiority, he often fouls up his thievery or pranking by stopping to tease the victim -- allowing them to kick the crap out of him. He craves popularity and is attracted to flashy things because of this -- his pet coati an example.
- His philosophy is work hard, play harder and while he pulls his weight in the clan, he seems much happier goofing off.
- Diego is very devout and believes strongly in the ideals of his community -- old and new. He thinks that the bond between clanmates is what keeps the clan strong, and that respecting the power of the unknown (represented by the "wild gods" like fire) leads only to success. He genuinely believes that his divination and performances help people, and so he'll never stop believing.
- Diego has no form preference -- once he shifts for a task (performing, hunting, sleeping), he doesn't bother shifting back. Part of this is because he is a slow shifter compared to an Ortus; most of it is cultural belief. One has an equal chance of seeing him in any of his three forms.

3. Skills
- Culture-Keeping: Diego is a self-proclaimed shaman and partakes in most of the spiritual practices of the Valley -- and he's especially happy to explain his beliefs. He holds tradition in high esteem; he keeps history and spreads the ideals of his clan as well as his own.
- Performance: A fire-dancer, trained in spinning poi, Diego uses performances for ritualistic purposes as well as to bring the community together. He's a bit of a jester and uses his pet in his "acts," hoping to brighten others' spirits.
- Thievery: He isn't particularly skilled at stealing, but he attempts to steal things a lot. Diego uses deflection and quick, bold action to steal things, and he's often bringing random things back to the clan, with or without an angry trader in tow.

5. History
Ceniza Valley
Duration | February 2012 - March 2016 |
Diego's early life was largely unremarkable. Born without a surname or even the ability to shift, he spent most of his youth behaving as any typical coyote of his ilk would: running, hunting, and socializing. It wasn't until he met his "brother," Laurel del Bosque, and was gifted the Luperci virus that Diego's life truly seemed to begin.
Adopted into the del Bosque family, Diego was quick to soak up the culture, beliefs, and practices of Ceniza Valley. He emerged himself in learning the art of fire dancing and began to apply ash markings daily. Where all his life before meeting Laurel was primarily focused on survival in a feral world, Cerniza Valley opened up a great, wide world of possibility, entertainment, and enjoyment that improved Diego's quality of life in ways that he had no idea were possible (or that even needed improving).
It was perhaps the idea and wonderment of the world outside of Ceniza Valley that Diego, along with Laurel, decided to leave the community for lands and opportunities beyond. Always excitable and idealistic and intrigued by stories of coyotes beyond the Valley, Diego came up with the idea and managed to convince several of his friends to make the journey with him.
Some of their companions struck off on their own or were temporarily separated, but Diego, Laurel, and Fang reached Inferni -- which they'd heard tell of from passersby -- in March 2016.
Pre-War Inferni
Duration | March 2016 - November 2017 |
Residence | Grimwell Caverns #CV03 |
Rank | Tirones |
Welcomed into the clan by the Aquila at the time, Vesper, the former Cenizans settled into Inferni with relative ease. Diego was quick to establish himself as a culture-keeper, spreading his homeland's traditions and values in addition to learning and preaching those of Inferni's — something he considers particularly important for the preservation of the clan's heritage and for the welfare of its people.
Ever the social butterfly, Diego made friends quickly with many Infernians, both established and new. When his honorary sister, Joaquina del Bosque, joined the clan in the beginning of 2017, he tried his hardest to protect her from an abusive relationship from her past. Unfortunately, his efforts were unsuccessful. When she died in childbirth, Diego took over care of one of the maned wolf pups that she left behind and treated her only living child like family.
When the Inferni declared war with neighboring Salsola, Diego largely stayed out of the fighting. Instead, he attempted to improve morale by engaging in fire-dancing, applying ash markings, and sharing uplifting stories. When the D'Neville Mansion was burned to the ground and the coyotes fled their established territory, not even Diego could ignore the feelings of defeat.
