Introduction

The Court of Fangs is a group of Luperci who have decided to reject the considerable advancement of the world around them and get back -- and give back -- to the land. They prefer to live on all four legs, and in far more simplistic ways.

Membership

Active

Oberyn Haskel — Slipstream

One of the elder members of the group, Oberyn is a skilled tracker and scout. He generally takes the lead when it comes to presenting new ideas to the band, though makes an effort to avoid taking charge or forcing his opinions on others. Generally, one can find Oberyn out exploring the forests of Seabreeze Brink, though he rarely ventures beyond the Halcyon Mountains. In many ways he acts as an ambassador of the group, spreading word of their ideals and looking for kindred spirits.

Harley Domatri — Riverfoot

Though most obviously a hybrid, there's no doubt that Harley is among the fiercest of the Court's members. While her sharp tongue and prickly attitude may keep others at bay, at her core Harley is a deeply caring soul. She is deeply dedicated to the well-being of the group, especially their youngest members. Her skills as a healer mark her as a vital member of the band.

Elkin — Torspar

A young wolf with a carefree attitude, Elkin reminds all who meet him of the simple joys of life. Despite still finding his own footing in the world, Elkin delights in telling stories and uplifting the spirits of others. While not easily stirred to violence, a threat to the group is certain to see Elkin raise to its defense.

Vannin — Tarndeep

In contrast to his brother, Vannin has taken to heart the life-lessons exile forced upon him. A surprisingly deep-thinking and wise soul, the Court of Fangs can rely upon Vannin to help them address difficult emotional and philosophical problems.

Nikamew Sycamore — Quickember

A relative newcomer to the band, Nikamew is still finding his place among the group. Though friendly and (usually) eager to help when asked, as something of an outsider Nikamew is still figuring out where he fits in. His skills as a hunter and willingness to fight are what earned him his name, though there is still plenty about this wolf yet to be revealed...

Zoltan Haskel — Puppy

One of the young children who live within the band, Zoltan is learning what it means to be a wolf. He can often be found playing around the group's main site, or getting underfoot when its members are around. As he grows up, his skills and talents will emerge and develop, though he's already shown an eagerness to protect the band and his family.

NPCs

Makwaikwe de le Poer — Wildfire

cNPC of: Oberyn
Though her frosty attitude may contrast her fiery title, Makwaikwe is a force to be reckoned with. While there is no formal leader among the band, most “final decisions” seem to come from her. A talented hunter, Makwaikwe spent her life growing up in a feral-leaning society and is principle in sharing this world-view with others. She generally keeps to herself, though has revealed a softer side when around her mate and offspring.

Nimkii de le Poer — Puppy

yNPC of: Oberyn
One of the young children who live within the band, Nimkii is learning what it means to be a wolf. She can often be found playing around the group's main site, or getting underfoot when its members are around. As she grows up, his skills and talents will emerge and develop, though she's already shown an interest in exploring the world around her.

Location

Ethereal Eclipse

Dominated mostly by the invasive English Oaks and the native Black and White Ash tree species, the territory was once a wilderness park. While the thickly packed forest was once capable of blocking out the sun, the cataclysmic events of 2016 wrecked havoc in the area. Great swatches of trees came down in mass, leaving behind towering piles of wooden rubble. With new gaps to allow sun in fresh growth has already begun to take advantage of this. The forest seems like a less overbearing place these days, though dark hollows made up of the oldest, sturdiest trees still hold lordship over the place. Ethereal Eclipse is generally a cool and damp forest, dotted with streams and brooks. The area is well-populated with fauna, as well -- moose, deer, and other large ungulates often make their home in the forest, along with an innumerable variety of smaller creatures.

Residence

The Court of Fangs lives in a section of woodland just a few miles northeast of a small lake. Several large rocks and boulders serve as landmarks, while a swath of pine, maple, oak, and ash trees help provide cover for the central clearing near the den-site. Old logs, ground-cover, and wild mushrooms can be found throughout the area. Individuals and families have dug their own dens around the central clearing.

While the signs of the band are not as obvious as those who may live in constructed structures, trails worn by use have appeared around this area. One might find discarded bones, shed fur, and markings to denote the group's presence. While they do not formally claim any territory, the scent of The Court of Fangs members is thick in this section of woodland.

Species: Fisher
Age: 4
Gender: Female
Origin: Undetermined riparian forest.
Residence: Generally hanging around the densite with Harley, oftentimes found wandering the forest for porcupines or other creatures which may harm the pack.
Appearance: Priscilla is on the hefty side for a female fisher, though quick on her feet. Her fur is a deep, rich brown color.
Personality: Priscilla is prickly, she speaks High Speech well enough to get her point across. Unfortunately, she hisses, chitters, and makes growling noises at those she doesn't know, and can come across as quite rude. Priscilla loves pups, as she was raised around Luperci. Her motherly instinct is quite apparent, and she is likely to cater to them (and try to teach them curse words).

Overview
The only non-canine member of the band, Priscilla is traveling companion and close friend of Harley. Like the sassy wolfdog, this fisher has a big attitude in a small frame and has been known to attack animals more than twice her size. A skilled hunter, Priscilla pulls her weight among the group and is fierce in her defense of its collective.

Culture

Simple, feral living. Members of the Court of Fangs are often primarily found in their Lupus or Secui forms. They are not forbidden from shifting to two legs, especially when required for specific tasks, but it is discouraged as a whole. These Luperci shun the idea of modernization – they do not keep livestock, live in houses, make fire, or produce and use weaponry. In this vein, members of the group are unlikely to obtain or keep items like clothing, trinkets, or other crafted goods unless they hold meaning.

Traditions

Rewilding

Rewilding is a method of ecological restoration with the intent of restoring wilderness areas. The members of the Court of Fangs practice this behavior, and make efforts to demolish man-made structures when they can. Their practices may also include the removal of invasive species, management of fauna, and the destruction of farmland and livestock. The methods and extremity to which members of the Court of Fangs go about this practice varies from individual to individual.

Theism

While there is no religious doctrine required among members, brothers Elkin and Vannin brought the beliefs of their homeland, Trillium Hollow, to the group.

  • Masra, the moon, and Sova, the sun, are considered the most important Goddesses of the collective.
  • The four seasons are also personified: Sister Spring, Brother Summer, Brother Autumn, and Sister Winter.
  • Animism – the belief that objects, places, and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence – is a central part of this faith system.
  • Reincarnation – the rebirth of a soul in a new body – is said to happen to Luperci when they die. While the soul most often seeks out a similar body, it is said that those who were cruel or evil may find themselves brought back as something different.
