On-board Characters

Boka kotorska (Cyrillic: Бока которска, English: Bay of Kotor, Italian: Bocche di Cattaro) also called the Boka, is a winding bay of the Adriatic Sea. It is home to a great population of dogs, which inhabit several coastal towns, and are divided into four tribes. The Boka is known for its beautiful and ancient ruins, for exporting fine clothes, yarn and citrus fruit, and for its indigenous branch of Orthodox Christianity, which venerates Luperci saints. The Bokelji consider themselves family-oriented, educated, honor-bound and pious.

However, wolves and pagans are strongly advised to avoid this location, for the inhabitants are knowns as dog supremacists and zealots.

In autumn of 2019, the years of peace were ended by a blood feud, the following war disfiguring the Boka's political landscape. Nowadays, there is an air of tension hanging in the saline air, and while trade and agriculture continue, many have noted the drop in quality and quantity of the Boka products, and a rise in taxation.

Climate

Mediterranean; Long, dry summers (31°/28°) and short, wet winters (9°/-2°). Waters of the Bay remain warm well into autumn. In the distance, the peaks of Lovćen and Orjen, show the only snow Bokelji ever see.

Fires are the most feared natural disaster. Difficult to contain and impossible to predict, their threat rises during dry periods.

Terrain

The Bay is roughly 28 kilometers ( 17 miles ) long, consisting of sharp turns and crevices. Waters are cradled by steep mountains, only passable using decrepit goat trails. Thanks to them, Boka enjoys a degree of isolation from the savage inlands.

At the narrowest section, only 340 meters ( 1,120 feet ) separate shore from shore, and can, in theory, be swam across.

Two massifs surround the Bay; to the west, Orjen, beyond which roam [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hajduk|hajduci], and to the east, Lovćen, a pilgrimage site.
