One Decade Celebration
Our 10th Birthday Celebration, as a big double digit milestone, was one of the first birthday events that was absolutely stacked with special features and contests of various sorts.
Contest Things
Trivia Quiz of Epic Proportions
We made a really long, really hard trivia quiz that covered the history of the board up until that point. (It wasn't as ridiculous as our 15th birthday trivia quiz though...)
History was split up into five "eras" of 2 years each and the first player to correctly answer questions from any given era would win a cupcake icon and custom title. The first player who answers the most correct questions overall got the same prize. Players were only eligible to win once. The Wiki was made inaccessible for the duration of the quiz period (one week).
Cupcake Icon Hunt
We brought back the Icon Hunt and hid 10 cupcakes!
Birthday Raffle
The 10th birthday introduced what would become an annual tradition: the birthday raffle. All players who made an IC post over the weekend were automatically entered into a drawing for a Tangible Prize Pack (random physical 'Souls merch! These were a bunch of pinback buttons?). Five winners were chosen.
Non-Contest Things
The 10th birthday was the first time we had a birthday board skin and desktop wallpaper debut featuring art by Kiri made specifically for the purpose. This tradition continued for the next several years, until 2017, after which time constraints prevented further occurrence.
The decade birthday also saw a rare survey and a one-off Choose Your Own Adventure game.
