Basics

NPC Info

  • Date of Birth: March 2008
  • Gender: Mare
  • Species: Stock Horse

1.  Appearance

  • Size: 16hh tall, medium-large
  • Features: Powerful hindquarters, Morgan and Quarter Horse features.
  • Coloration:
    • Tigana is a dark bay pinto overo.
    • She has four white stockings and a white blaze, as well as prominent white markings on her neck.
    • Her mane is black with a white segment where her neck marking lies.
    • Her eyes are blue.
  • Gear:
    • Plain, Western-style leather saddle with some red stitching, the makings of a Chaos Star.
    • Plain, Western-style leather bridle with a curb bit.

2.  Personality

Tigana is a hot-tempered and tricky horse. While not malicious or aggressive, she challenges riders -- especially those she is unused to -- and will attempt to sabotage their actions (slipping out of tack, avoiding being "caught," disobeying orders). Persistence is required from anyone who wants to ride her; any sign of submission is perceived as weakness. She is actually very intelligent, always thinking about how to out-maneuver others, and in a sense demands to be seen as equal as canines.

She is less temperamental with other horses, often outgoing and friendly -- if dominant toward other mares that challenge her. She is affectionate with foals -- unless they annoy her, in which case she'll reprimand them soundly. She gets along with geldings and stallions, though she playfully bullies and hounds the former. She isn't mean, but she is easily stirred up and very much a troublemaker.

When her affection is earned, Tigana has shown a very protective streak.

2.1  Skills & Abilities

  • Tigana is trained for riding -- though the inexperienced shouldn't attempt to handle her. She follows orders from those she knows well and who can out-think her.
  • Though largely untrained in this, she has the temperament for a warhorse and has defended her rider from others before.

2.2  Likes & Dislikes

  • She likes pranking, being difficult, playing.
  • She likes Vicira and is very protective of her.
  • She dislikes Luperci in general -- but will bond with a choice few.

3.  History

  • While her origin is unknown, Tigana resided in Anathema as a communal horse named Mai.
  • Grace D'Angelo took Mai when she left Anathema for Vinátta.
  • In July 2012, Grace traded Mai to Cercatori d'Arte merchant Levent Kartal for a kitten and a few other things. Despite trading off a trained horse, Grace probably got the better end of the deal, not telling Levent about Mai's attitude!
  • Levent attempted to bond with her while he resided in his pack, and while they reached somewhat of an understanding thanks to Levent's gift for Low Speech, they were far from friends. Regardless, Levent took her with him when he left the pack.
  • In December 2012, Levent was kidnapped from Nova Scotia -- leaving Mai riderless. She ran off and reached the Drifter Bay horse herds, falling into the group (if terrorizing them a little).
  • A few weeks later, Mai wanders into Inferni territory, where she is captured by Vesper, Nathaniel, Asher, and Helotes.
  • She was renamed Tigana, kept at the Great Village and trained a little by Myrika Tears. Her temperament improved, though she remained rather tricky.
  • After her daughter Vicira Tears became old enough for her own animal, Vesper gifted the animal to her. Despite her mild personality, Vicira showed considerable skill in controlling the animal.
  • Tigana and Vicira's bond was solidified when the horse protected Vicira from Marlowe de le Poer's aggression. She became increasingly protective of Vicira afterward.
  • In late April of 2016, Tigana was bred to Gunther, a former Inferni horse owned by Linden Aatte. Months after that breeding, Vicira replaced Tigana with Kresnik as her main mount to keep from straining Tigana.
  • In March 2017, Tigana gave birth to Riselka?.
  • During the dark times following the Inferni-Salsola War, Vicira cared for her personal horses the best she could -- even to the detriment of other livestock (and, some might argue, the clan itself). When Inferni disbanded in August 2018, Vicira fled west, taking both Tigana and Kresnik with her.
