Sycorax (NPC of [[Characters/Loki Helsi]])

Sycorax is a magical bloo danger noodle!!!

1.  Appearance

Sycorax is a large blue-grey serpent -- on his dullest days a dark grey like river stone, but in the right light a vibrant, brilliant blue characteristic of his subspecies. He has pale ventral scales and a darker mask of coloration around his large chestnut-brown eyes. He is an inch shy of five feet in length.

2.  Personality

Sycorax is an intelligent snake -- though to most Luperci he would seem rather dull until he speaks. Even then, his cold, reptilian mind views the world in a much more simplistic way, no matter his interests. He comprehends much of the Luperci world and is particularly interested in the culture of the wolves that he was raised among, especially its rituals. Used as a prop and pet of a priestess, Sycorax believes in the power of magic as it pertains to him not getting eaten, and he is rather haughty because of this, believing himself untouchable. As such, he is much less skittish than other racers.

2.1  Skills & Abilities Uniquely intelligent, Sycorax can speak a broken, quiet, hissing dialect of High Speech. He comprehends slightly more than he is able to communicate. He understands a subset of commands involving subtle vibrations and hand-signs. He can hunt and is an active forager when hungry, exploring field and forest in search of prey.

2.2  Likes & Dislikes Liked Svanr and his sister, but now they're gone, aren't they?! Likes magic, rituals, being pampered. Likes marshland with good cover for his habitat and plenty of songbirds to eat. Dislikes predators, loud noises, and activity.

3.  History

Born in the wilderness around Hearg Njorth, Sycorax was captured at a young age by Svanr Reyrr, who nursed him to health. His sister, one of the völva, decided to use the snake in her rituals -- though she went to Svanr whenever the snake needed care, and the man largely tended to him. For years Sycorax observed the Hearg and its magic. He came to understand High Speech and the life of Luperci, and existed as a symbol of the völva's magic.

When Svanr went northeast to Nova Scotia, Sycorax, as loyal to the man as to his sister, accompanied him. However, his unlucky companion found himself a victim of theft by Stjarna Fylgja (again). Spirited away by Stjarna, Sycorax -- concerned that he would become a meal or hide -- insisted to the girl that he knew magic. He had always been protected in the Hearg by his priestess, and he hoped he could bargain Stjarna not to eat him. Convinced of the snake's power, Stjarna took Sycorax with her to Salsola and attempted to pry his "magical secrets" from him before gifting him to Loki Helsi, the Crone.
