Sylfa & Svellr (NPC of [[Characters/Sonje Helsi]])

Two ravens of unknown origins (though their closeness can most obviously be attributed to brotherhood), with an annoying habit of finishing one another's sentences and interrupting otherwise peaceful situations. It is often difficult to tell if they are more trouble than they're worth.

1.  Appearance

• Size: 51 in (wingspans) · ~3 lbs
• Features: Black, iridescent plumage that grows shaggy around the throat and above their thick, curved beaks. They have wedge-shaped tails, large feet, and deep, croaking voices.
• Coloration:
  • A uniform, oily Cod Gray coats all of their feathers.
  • Their beaks and scaly legs are Mine Shaft, serving as their only variation of color.
  • It is almost impossible to tell that their eyes are Rangoon Green.
• Additional:
  • Sonje often takes a feather (tail or wing) from Svellr so she can tell them apart at a distance.
  • Sylfa is missing a claw on his right foot, which is the only true differentiation between them.

2.  Personality

Both of them are mean, cocksure, and annoying, with Sylfa only being slightly less inclined to cruelty than his brother. Neither of them seem completely dominant over the other, but Svellr is most prone to antagonistic physical behavior (i.e. plucking, nipping, buffeting) and both of them will gang up on someone if appropriately riled. They consistently finish one another's sentences, often speaking in riddles or using terms and phrases that don't mean anything to anyone but themselves.

2.1  Skills & Abilities Both of them are capable of understanding and speaking High Speech, but the exact level of their knowledge is debatable. They seem to pretend to be stupid sometimes. The twins are incredibly quick and capable of great stealth. They mostly serve Sonje as simple scouts, however. They recognize Sonje's howl and will come to her aid if requested.

2.2  Likes & Dislikes Like teasing, being chased, cackling, carrion, being noisy/nosy, and deceiving anyone dumb enough to fall for it. Dislike rainstorms, too much sun, and being talked at for too long.

3.  History

• Nobody is certain where they hail from, but the only thing obvious about them (if they are not already squawking about it), is that they are brothers. It is assumed they are twins, because for whatever reason they're a lot more attuned to one another than other birds tend to be.
• In early 2014, Sylfa suffered from a severe infection in one of the claws on his right foot, which made it painful for him to do anything but fly and lay on his side whenever he landed.
• Sonje came upon the injured bird one morning, and after being attacked by a frustrated and frightened Svellr, she learned why Sylfa couldn't perch and offered to help if they promised to serve her at least once.
• She extracted his claw from the root, and treated the bird with salves and healing concoctions. He was well again after several weeks and though she expected them to flee (because the birds had seemed nothing short of capricious), the twins began hanging around and never going farther than a howl away.
• After six months of discovering their usefulness as scouts and distractions, she named them Sylfa and Svellr.
