1.  Appearance

The Norwegian Elkhound is very apparent in Somerled's appearance. Somerled silvery outer coat is course and straight, with a softer undercoat. Somerled has a black mask on his face, black ears that are pointed and erect and black tips on his overlying coat. He is silvery grey and white throughout the rest of his body and has a puffy tail that curls over his back. Although the breed is of medium size, Somerled is significantly larger thanks to the wolf blood he possesses. His limbs are longer and his body is less stocky. Somerled has large paws and being that he is young and has not yet grown into his body, he is clumsy and prone to stumbling over himself. At the present time he's not much more than a fluffy ball of greys, blacks, and whites with long legs, large paws, and that peculiarly curly tail. The pup is almost always found with a silly smile on his face and has a habit of letting his tongue hang from his mouth. Somerled has dark brown eyes that give off a keen and friendly expression. Still young, he has a squeaky voice and he has a tendency of shouting when he speaks.

2.  Personality

Being that Somerled is still so young, he hasn't yet had the chance to fully grow into his own person. Thus far, he's always been a happy pup. He was never made aware of his fate, though he was very observant and noted that the pack members, including his parents, looked at him differently than they did his sisters. He's very gentle, having taken his role as a brother very seriously and is protective of those he cares about. Somerled is very optimistic and even when his father left him, he hasn't given up hope that he will return. Truly nothing seems to get the boy down and he has an adventurous spirit, seeing everything in life as some great and fun journey. Somerled is very friendly and outgoing and will talk to anyone he comes across. He enjoys listening to stories and likes to ask a lot of questions. Inquisitive and eager to learn, Somerled doesn't fear much in life, which could be viewed as a good or bad thing. Somerled is also brutally honest in the way that most young kids are - he says exactly what he's thinking and doesn't seem to realize what is appropriate and what is not. He's simply very childish and is likely to be molded by the new situation he has recently found himself in.

3.  History

Somerled was born to a cult-like pack. Their leader was a superstitious man and led according to what the "fates" instructed him to do. A self-proclaimed seer was the driving force behind all of their leader's decisions and he had a tendency to make up strange prophecies when things were too normal for awhile.

Such was the case when Somerled's parents became pregnant. Though they were each long-time members of the pack with no real issues, the seer declared that the only male in their litter would bring great danger to the pack and must be executed upon his birth. His parents had never before questioned the seer's visions, but now they found themselves torn. Somerled's mother desperately wanted to abandon the pack and raise their family somewhere safe, but Somerled's father refused. He prayed that the litter would consist of only females and the seer would be proven wrong, but months later the puppies were born and Somerled was the only male.

Distraught, Somerled's mother thought desperately of a way to save her son, but nothing came to mind. To make matters worse, the seer declared that the pup must be killed at exactly two months of age and so the family was forced to raise him and love him for eight weeks before he could be killed.

When the time was up, Somerled's mother begged and pleaded, but the pack would not budge. Somerled's father decided he would do it and one day took the young pup on an "adventure". However, he was unable to follow through and instead went to 'Souls, where he'd heard of thriving packs. Leaving Somerled behind, confused and alone, his father returned to the pack, not telling a soul, even his family, about what he'd actually done.
