Salem Kaul

Salem Kaul is currently a Loner

1.  Appearance

Average in size with a lean, muscular physique. Salem is primarily a mixture of creams, golds, and warm buttery shades of yellow. His underbelly is primarily lighter than his coat on top and across the flat of his skull and along the ridge line of his spine he has a scattering of black guard hairs that darken his coat and add an appealing sort of contrast. His eyes are a sharp sea green color, too pale a shade to ever be considered intense. Remarkably he lacks any visible scars and his features are left pristine and unmarked by battle. His face is leaner and more narrow than what would traditionally be considered attractive. When in his Optime form he retains his muscular average sized physique – he is not much for physical adornments but he does sport a single solid bronze pulse point bracelet that he wears over his left wrist (which he keeps stored in the canvas bag he carries over his shoulder as he travels). He prefers his Optime form thanks to his ability to carry his belongings more easily. He does not have any tattoos or ritual burned designs and he also does not dye or manipulate his fur.

2.  Personality

Salem is both stubborn and clever, he is also defined strongly by his dedication to bringing about peace and harmony without the use of violence, bloodshed, or fear of such – he is a pacifist to the bone and as a young wolf struggles in a world that can often times be harsh and very challenging to his beliefs. His pacifism drives him to put aside all forms of physical combat, the use of weapons, and more the use of emotional or psychological manipulation through fear. He is frequently emotional, though he struggles to keep his feelings in check as he believes that strong emotion can lead to a loss of control – he works to train his mind toward logical thought though it is fair to say that the strong sense of empathy he feels for others is where his pacifism originates from. The short months of travel that he has endured since leaving his home have already begun to shape him, he has learned through experience that his ideals are not going to be easy to reach and yet he still strives for them – using his intelligence and tenacity to overcome each obstacle placed in his path. Integrity, honor, compassion, diligence, and empathy are his most defining characteristics.

3.  History

Born to Avani Kaul (formerly Mannan) and Akash Kaul along side his sister Mardini and his brother Ritayu late in the summer. The trio of siblings were the joy of their parents, the first litter born to the pair who were relatively young themselves and had just come into leadership at the head of a pack who's history ranged back beyond what even their skillful lorekeepers could keep track of. From the beginning Salem and his siblings were taught of loyalty and duty to their pack and also of the possibility that one day they would come to be responsible for the safety and security of their pack mates through leadership. Within the bounds of their upbringing the siblings were encouraged to take up habit in studying all manner of things that they could use to serve the greater whole of their pack. Mardini established herself speedily as an adept fighter and it was clear that she would eventually go on to be a great warrior. Conversely Ritayu became a learned spiritual follower and it fell to him to reach for the depths of faith and spirit. Salem himself was clever, fast, and fit but he lacked the passion and drive that his siblings gained quickly when introduced to their chosen fields. In truth, Salem felt crushed by the weight of responsibility placed on him by his parents and while he wished to serve his family line and the society that had given him a rich and gentle life the older he became the more he saw the ways others must pay for his luxury. As he grew he realized that the peace his world existed in was fueled often times by violence, bloodshed, and domination of others. On his first birthday Salem announced to his pack that he had meditated on the nature of their existence and found it wanting and that he intended to set out into the world to seek a better way to live. Upon this announcement he abdicated his promised adult position in the pack, packed one small weatherproofed canvas bag with all the belongings he cared to bring, and set out on his own uncertain of if he would ever return.
