SignificanceLeader

Mordulin Aika was the longtime Alpha of Jaded Shadows.

About

Mordulin Aika was the longtime alpha of Jaded Shadows. Shadows Stars, one of the founding packs of Bleeding Souls, had never flourished like Storm or Silent Dawn, and its second alpha, Omoi, took over after the disappearance of the founding alpha, Moon. In a final move to save her pack, Omoi moved Shadows Stars from the dying plainsland above Storm's territory to the mountain far west, and founded Jaded Shadows. She died shortly thereafter, passing the pack along to Mordulin, who ruled the pack for most of its existence until she disappeared, leaving it to the pair of alpha females Fatin Kali and Tayui Aston.

Personality

Mordulin has a rather complex personality that has changed quite significantly over the years. In her youth, she was hot-tempered and malleable; time and heartache has evened out her temperament, but her tendency to being jaded remains. It is her nature to give second chances, often overlooking the obvious contradicting facts. Mordulin has mellowed out a lot with motherhood, age, and responsibility. A lot of who she originally was has been sacrificed to become the leader she should be; she never was very good at distinguishing between pack and personal life. Jaded Shadows and alphadom has consumed her life, and she no longer knows if her wisdom, patience, and protective nature were originally qualities she possessed or if they were acquired by necessity.

Motherhood and loss have shaped a lot of who Mordulin is, as well. Loss has made her weary of trust, so that very few wolves actually meet the softer, sensitive girl underneath the capable, blustery woman. Age has had a profound effect for her socially. She no longer feels she has any peers, not from a rank standpoint, but simply because she is much older than the general population. Therefore, she tends to be very motherly (or grandmotherly) in disposition, which in turn compounds her attitude of responsibility and suppressed feelings of loneliness. Nevertheless, she retains a great capacity to love, and showers her large family with it, often unconsciously and internally.

Greatest Weakness

Mother and Grandmother though she is, Mordulin never learned the art of letting go.

Skills

Mordulin was once a fighting wolf, who was often used as a decoy for those who mistook her small size for weakness. Although the necessary coordination has remained over the years, the skills are kept sharp more for fitness than for any real need for combat. Like most wolves, she is a competent hunter and adept at navigation. Once upon a time, she began to learn the healer’s art, but gave it up upon coming to Jaded Shadows. A lot of what made her outstanding has been forgotten; a lot of what was once enjoyed was given up for its lack of practicality. Mordulin'’s one indulgence is star gazing, and she knows the star-lore of more than one nation.

Relations

Family

Mordulin has relations to the Aika family.

Appearance

Mordulin, 2007

Mordulin is small of frame and appears to be delicately built. An active and difficult lifestyle, especially in her younger years, has left her lean, lithe, and well toned muscularly. Getting along by physical force has never been possible for her, and to compensate her reflexes are lightening-quick, even at her somewhat advanced age. Her pelt is a healthy, glossy black that is abnormally thick. Here an there white flecks appear, especially around ears and muzzle. Mordulin’s eyes, however, are her most outstanding feature: they are a dark, deep shade of green.

Optime

Mordulin retains her small stature and quick reflexes, but loses the flecks of white that frame her features. (Recently, however, her mane has begun to turn grey). She gains a large number of visible marks that the lesser fur of the were form reveals. A sprawling tattoo of blood-red roses and thorns dripping inky-black blood covers her chest, resting just above her cleavage. There is also something of a brand mark on her left haunch, although it has faded with the years and is scarcely visible. Her many scars become apparent. A nick above the right eye and a deep gouge on the left shoulder are the most noticable, however. This form represents, for Mor, a past that she’d rather forget.
