Merlowe Napier

Merlowe Napier, born to Sy Napier and Haiku, alongside his three other siblings, Anette, Rhaeka & Xia, resided in Ontario, Canada for a long while as a member of a pack that had no name. It wasn't exactly an "official pack" as it was led by his mother, Sy Napier, and functioned as an unofficial family pack of sorts. It strongly consisted of the Napier bunch, mostly the children and their mates and their children. Those who resided in the unofficial family pack at the time were: Sy Napier, Haiku, Kaze, Anette, Tyko Amini, Merlowe, Xia, Rhaeka, Aatu, and Axelle, Nero, Anzu, Aatu (Jr.) and Valeric were born into the pack and only remained for a short time.

Because the group consisted of feral and Luperci warriors alike, there was never entirely a dull moment. Merlowe was infamous for going on long hunting sprees and coming back caked in his own and someone else's blood; he also appointed himself to take care of any aggressive strangers that thought they could push them around. Then there was also Anette's mate, Tyko, who was seemingly insane. Xia and Rhaeka never liked him, Merlowe didn't care. His sisters made sure to rise suspicions among the other adults. Their suspicions proved correct when he took Anette into the woods one night and snapped her neck with his great jaws. Xia drove him out as soon as she got the affirmative from his mother. Merlowe had been on one of his hunts then, or else he might've ended Tyko's life that night. The family group took care of their pups, Axelle and Nero, for a short time while they were still too young to leave on their own. Unfortunately, Axelle seemed anxious to leave them and soon Nero followed, even though he lingered a short time afterwards.

Merlowe's family group broke up shortly after the fall of his mother, Sy Napier. It is suspected that the old warrior died of sadness after her mate and Anette's deaths. Haiku was violently killed by a bear sometime after Anette's death. Aatu and Merlowe found him in the forest a few miles from their dens, barely alive and stayed with him until he was gone, and then brought the grave news back with them. Sy was never the same.

After their "unofficial" pack broke up, many of the siblings split off and went their own way. Merlowe was one of the first to go his own way, naturally being a loner by birth. He put a lot of distance between his family's old stomping grounds and himself. He left Ontario completely and headed South into the United States and didn't stop until he reached Southern Wyoming. It was then that he met his first mate, Meadow. The two of them never really settled as she understood Merlowe to be a loner who constantly needed to move, to wander, to travel. It was almost a year into their companionship when they had their first litter, containing Dask, Rhyse, and Serian Napier. Because Merlowe generally had a dark coat that resembled that of his father's, two of his puppies (Dask and Serian) retained his dark coat patterns, while Rhyse came out a lighter complexion like Meadow, his mother. It wasn't easy roaming with young puppies, so Meadow was forced to make a den while they were very young, and Merlowe continued to roam and periodically bring her back food from his travels.

It was only when the pups were 6 or 7 months old had Meadow and Merlowe resumed their travels. Feeling free and excited at last, Meadow offered to hunt for the family, instead of it being Merlowe doing it for a change. While in the forest and very under practiced, she was attacked and killed by a Cougar. The dwindling family later found this out and howled a sad song into the air. Merlowe resumed his travels with three pups tagging along with him. They followed him for quite some time before breaking away from him too when they turned one year old.

Merlowe continued his travels for a long time alone, which seemed to be the way he liked it. He periodically met with females and females in heat, and contributed to the cause like any other male would. It was one female, who was so insignificant to him that he never learned her name, who trailed him from Crowheart, Wyoming all the way to the very edge of Eastern South Dakota. He had gotten her pregnant, remained around the area long enough for her to watch him. When she had the pup, he had lingered in the area for a while, completely ignorant of the fact that he was being watched and tracked. The female coyote (noted as "Random Wench") followed him for 5 days with her 6 month old pup to the outskirts of South Dakota just to hand the pup over to his father. When Merlowe refused, the situation escalated and ended up becoming violent, which ended significantly in her death right before the pup's eyes. Merlowe still didn't take the pup with him, but over time and because the pup followed him anyway, Merlowe grew fond of the pup and decided to make him his namesake.

All the while being a loner, Merlowe still disappeared to go on his hunting sprees, which usually involved fighting other males. One day he never returned to Merlowe Jr. Assuming that age, long-term injury, and ignorance caught up with him, Merlowe Jr. eventually moved on after a couple days, being well over a year by then.
