Melia

Melia is a work in progress, future character for Katie. The plan is for her to go to Salsola as a slave, but she requires much fleshing out first and won't even get a forum profile till closer to time for Katie to request her. Since she's a WIP, the information on this wiki MAY or MAY NOT be correct; please don't edit!

Build and Species

Melia is a mix of several European herding or flock-guarding breeds. Between her parents' lineages, she has Anatolian Shepherd, Basque Herder, Aidi, Akbash Dog, Carpathian Shepherd, German Shepherd, Karst Shepherd, and Maremma Sheepdog blood in varying amounts. This melting pot of traits has given birth to a relatively short and stocky, muscular dog with both endurance and power. Her ribcage is large and her stomach small, though this is hidden by the amount of fur on her body. Despite her body type, there is no mistaking Melia for a male. Her fur is long and flat, somewhat rough to the touch, with a dense undercoat; her tail is plumed and curls at the end.

History

Originally born in Villa Santa Lucia degli Abruzzi Melia was raised as the daughter of a family of sheep herdsmen on the hills and plains below the Gran Sasso d'Italia. Her parents herded sheep when they were young, as did their parents, and their parents before them. All of her line have very astutely avoided the Luperci virus, preferring to employ those Luperci which are needed for the shearing and butchering of their livestock, and for making trade deals with those who do business with her family, and shunning all others. Melia herself is not afraid of the virus, but has no wish to be changed.

Sheep

Melia's family herds several species of sheep that they use for their own food source as well as for trade in wool and mutton. The species that primarily make up their herd of several hundred head are Shropshire, Scottish Blackface, Merino, and Manx Loaghtan, with a lesser population of Lacaune and a crossbreed of East Frisian and Awassi.
