Melee Soul

Melee is the biological daughter of Ember Phoenix and Haku Soul, alongside her brother Range. They were born into AniWaya in early September 2010, but after Ember tried to discard them into a fire soon after their birth, the two pups were taken by a young Gideon Stormbringer to Dahlia de Mai where he raised them from infancy. As a result, members of the Stormbringer lineage are considered moreso family than their blood.

She and her brother lived a relatively obscured childhood, but were not sheltered in terms of the truth about their unknown parentage; Melee cared less for the truth than Range.

Being the children of Haku didn't become relevant until Range had begun to become abnormally distant towards her after their first birthday, and in late 2011 Range left Nova Scotia very suddenly. By this time DdM had merged with another pack to become Ichika no Ho-en, in which Melee hung around for a while after, but she found herself restless in the wake of her brother's disappearance. She left soon after to find him and she tracked him to a coast, where she convinced him not to set sail that day with a "pack of sea-faring vagabonds" (as she would tell it). He did not want to return to Nova Scotia, so she excitedly ushered him elsewhere.

The two became highly dependent on one another during their travels: Melee seemed to be the only resolution to her brother's mental instability and Range supported her physically—much more so after she was struck by lightning during their third year. It was only after much battling that Melee finally managed to convince Range to bring her back to Nova Scotia, so that she might see it at least once more.

1.  Appearance

1.1  Basics

Essentials Species: An average (albeit thin) and feminine wolf. She bears a remarkable resemblance to her father. Fur: Short and dense, thickest around her nape, collar and upper chest like the brim of a fur coat. Optime Hair: Incredibly long and flat, though admittedly quite lusterless. She has prominent, square bangs that sit neatly above her eyes, and she keeps the bottom of her hair trimmed in a straight line just so she can't sit on it. Facial Features: Melee has a small, round head accompanied by ears she never outgrew. Build and Size: Though average in terms of her conformation, she appears soft and has a marginal amount of frailty given her size. Lupus: Appearing to be on her way to malnourishment, she looks bony in some places but not weak. Optime: Quite tall and shapely, but with a distinctive lack of muscle tone and weight. Her ribs always show. Humanization: High -- she loves to fool around with human artifacts and dress up, or otherwise maim her brother with them.

Coloration Fur: Mostly Clinker, which varies in hue as it travels from the bridge of her nose to encompass nearly her entire body. Cape Palliser pales her belly and chest, traveling up to her face and stopping in rings around her eyes. The insides of her ears are also this color. Paarl shades a formless blob of thick fur in the center of her chest, and drips a thin, slithering line down to her belly. 5.  History

Melee Soul is the daughter of Ember Phoenix and Haku Soul; however, after her birth, her mother threw her and brother, Range Soul, into a fire. They were rescued by Gideon Stormbringer and live were brought back to Dahlia de Mai.

6.  History

Melee and her brother Range were born to Ember Phoenix in AniWaya on September 7, 2010. Ember did not want them, however, as both looked very much like their rapist father Haku, and made a fire in a neutral territory, throwing a burlap sack with both pups in it into that fire and not looking back.

Thankfully, the bag did not completely hit the fire. Gideon Stormbringer, from Dahlia de Mai, saw the incident and rescued the bag before it could be engulfed. He took the pups back with him to his pack, where they were accepted by the leader, Conor Soul.The pups do not know who their true mother is, and neither does anyone else in the pack. Gideon adopted the pups and is raising them as if they were his own children, despite the Stormbringer’s young age.

Later, when Dahlia de Mai merged with Phoenix Valley to form Ichika no Ho-en, Melee, Range and Gideon all moved with them.

7.  Personality

Since birth, Melee has been a spunky, outgoing and bold puppy. When she was younger, she was known for being the first to wake and the last to get to sleep. She seems to have an endless energy, even now that she has grown up some. In general, she would rather be direct and not mince words when it comes to conversation. Her greatest joy is nature, followed closely by adventuring. Melee has natural leader qualities, though it remains to be seen whether these will be refined into the grace and intelligence of a true leader, or merely lead her right into trouble.

Her passion for nature particularly focuses on thunderstorms. If there is a storm going on, there is an absolute certainty that Melee is out in it. She enjoys rain in general, but is particularly fascinated by the power and beauty of thunderstorms. It is the one thing that will get her out of bed on a dark night. In general, she is afraid of the dark and won't go in dark places by herself. Melee will also not go out into particularly dark nights without someone else along with her, although she likes to be outside during the full moon.

A tenacious little sparkplug, Melee will be one to watch as she finishes growing up in the next year.

9.  Appearance

Melee looks like the biological father that she never knew. She is a dark, earthy brown that is a few shades darker than her brother's own coat. Her stomach is a creamy color that then trails beneath her chin and around her eyes. There is a touch of even lighter coloration around her nose, which is white. Melee's left eye is a bright blue and her right eye is a pale green.

As she is nearly her adult size, Melee has lost the oversized paws and too-long legs of an adolescent. She has lengthened and grown to be a slim, lean girl. In size, she is average for a female of her age and subspecies.

The most notable thing about Melee's appearance, however, is a slight birth defect. Her right front paw is twisted and rotated inward. She is still able to walk on it to a degree, however. Although there have been times when it has tripped her up, Melee doesn't let that slow her down in the slightest. This paw is missing all of its toes. In an interesting exchange, her left forepaw has six toes.
