1.  Appearance

Kali is a relatively small Luperci. She stands just 4’6 (140 cm) at the shoulder in Optime form and 24” (59 cm) in Lupus form. Though she looks more wolfish appearance (besides coloring), her stature shows her coyote heritage and she sometimes hates it. She weighs about 90 lbs (40.8 kg) in Optime form and about 20 lbs (9.07 kg) in Lupus. She has a relatively wide face in all three forms and slightly downward-turning eyes.

Her fur is relatively thick but medium in length. Her back is a dark brown agouti with the rest of her body fading to a golden-orange—more like a light Persian Orange—flowing to her extremities. She is more dark than light. Her tail and mid-back are the darkest. Kali’s eyes are a livid purple and sometimes appear to be more indigo in the daytime. Her hair in Optime form is dark brown with the slightest red tinge and a hybrid of curly and wavy. She normally lets it hang loosely, and its length reaches the middle of her back.

Kali tries to hold herself rather neutrally but living without a pack for most of her life has made her rather introverted and submissive in gait. She has a voice that is mousy and elegant with a small French accent (Fleur deLecour from the Harry Potter series is a close match). She frequently forgets words and loses her train of thought.

Like her mother, Kali prefers her Lupus or Secui form over her Optime form. The way she holds herself in Optime form is therefore a little feral at times. She prefers to not wear much clothing because of this as well.

2.  Personality

Kali considers herself, for the most part, an introvert. She tries to stay quiet and even sneaky. Her mother avoided packs and other Luperci at all costs while they were together and this has made her (as of now) rather squirrelly towards others. Being introverted at times does not inhibit her ability to be courageous and independent. She can also prove to be rather social to those she is comfortable with, even somewhat of a leader among friends. Kali is a dreamer and someone with ideas.

She is artistic and wishes to better her branding skills. The basics of branding were taught to her by her mother but even she didn’t know many advanced things or had ever experimented or practiced on more than herself or her brief mate. Kali practiced on dirt and the hides of rabbits but that was not enough. She branded herself as carefully and slowly as she could, and she hated every second of it—but considers it worth it.

Kali is rather sensitive to pain. She is also deeply, intensely afraid of vomit. Her brother had an extremely picky stomach and vomited quite a lot in their pup years. She somehow developed a phobia from this and it has remained with her up to now. She values humor, honesty, and loyalty, and strives for such for herself, yet has a driving need to prove herself to others.

Though she is normally quiet and neutral, Kali has a hidden burning temper. She can be moody at times, and makes very impulsive decisions. She has little to no patience. It takes all her energy to concentrate or wait on something for long, and this doesn’t help her want to be artistic.

3.1  Family: la Marin?

  • Mother: Halé
  • Father: James la Marin
  • Siblings: Daniel la Marin

4.  History

Kali was born to Halé, a coyote, and Jamie la Marin, a gray wolf, in the spring of 2014. She never knew her father, however. Halé was quite adamant that she never meet or know much about him, however she did tell her minimal things and how they met.

Halé was a Luperci verto, infected accidentally in a scuffle for prey with a small, unnamed band of hybrids that briefly took her in during her adolescent years (after things were talked about and settled of course). Halé learned much about adjacent Luperci customs and goings-on from the band, as well as how to actually use her new Luperci abilities. The band, which she still had not named in her tale, was killed by one of the packs, for they had been trespassing for food in a desperate winter. Halé was only spared because she was not expected to live through her wounds.

Jamie la Marin, however, came across her just in the nick of time. It was difficult, and a very long recovery, but he managed to bring Halé back from the brink—in exchange for her left arm. She taught him French during the recovery, and in return he taught her the basics of Branding and Herbology. Along the way they fell in love. However, the love was unfortunately temporary. Jamie was a medic wishing to join one of the many packs after he had been casted out of his old one. He had changed his name and was very secretive of his past to Halé. One day in the midst of her pregnancy, Jamie had vanished. Halé assumed he abandoned her and still harbored hate and betrayal for him when Kali was born.

Kali had two brothers. Her mother was of short stature as well—even for a coyote—and so the process of birthing hybrid children was somewhat difficult. Her first brother, briefly named Timón, was stillborn. Her other brother, Daniel, grew alongside her until leaving for his own adventures when turning a year of age. This was not when Kali left their mother as well. She remained with her for another three months, not afraid to leave, but unwilling because of the horrible stories Halé told her about the dangers of both packs and living alone. She felt like life was a two-sided knife and didn’t know what direction to take.

In the end, Kali finally left Halé because they began to not get along. Kali was sick of Halé treating her like she was four months old and her sarcastic, passive-aggressive demeanor and anxiety.
