Gunslinger Russo is the daughter of Malenkij Russo and Katja Molotov, born in Sobirat'sya, Russia. In 2011, she left Russia to work with the Narentines, a group of river and coast pirates. She was taken captive on a large slave ship headed for the Mediterraneans after the Narentine village where she was working was raided in February 2013. When the captives were refused as slaves at Athens, she was sold to the captain of the Era Nero. When the ship is docked at Barcelona, she manages to obtain Iskra?, a Barbary Macaque, through a gambling game with another sailor. She eventually came to Freetown, and was released after months of working on the Era Nero and maintaining a physical relationship with sailor Remus Vasco.

For a month, Gunslinger lived to the southwest of Freetown, avoiding the crew of the Era Nero while they were still docked. Once she hears that they have left, she enters Freetown. The following night, she is followed by Remus. Their encounter is violent, although no one is seriously injured. When she encounters Remus again, Gunslinger kills him. Realizing she has stabbed the man many more times than intended, she flees Freetown and heads south to Nova Scotia.

Upon arriving in Nova Scotia, Gunslinger meets Lucille, who offers her a spot within her traveling group. Gunslinger joins them, and eventually helps to found Krokar. Unsatisfied with pack life, she leaves, heading towards Freetown with the intent to return to her birthplace. When she finally manages to find a ship to take her to Europe, the meteor strikes, and she is forced to flee. Rather than following some of the traders to Portland, Gunslinger heads south again with the intent of returning to her previous pack.

2.  Personality

  • Subtle fear of men -- she will not shirk at their touch or display overt fear in her physical interactions, but she is careful to avoid being alone with men, and extremely slow to trust. Gunslinger is especially wary of overly friendly, touchy, or loud men. She does not adore women or give them all of her trust, however; she is generally guarded regardless of gender.
  • Outgoing, extroverted, enjoys company. While she may not enjoy revealing her soul to anyone, she does enjoy working with others and generally interacting with them. When completing a task, Gunslinger works best in a team. She is generally charismatic enough to seamlessly shift a conversation away from subjects that are uncomfortable to her (e.g., past lovers, etc.).
  • Though strongly desirous of a group, Gunslinger is likely to have difficulty fitting in with a pack -- specifically because of the leaders' authority. She lived in Sobirat'sya before joining up with the Narentines and was, at one point, perfectly capable of living within a normal Luperci structure. Her time with the Narentine pirates, however, is likely to have colored her perception of authority and alphaship significantly.
    • She is especially likely to view a weak leader as one unworthy of respect. A strong leader might at least convince or coerce her into loyalty; a leader with which she is friendly might command her to some degree simply due to their friendship. A weak leader, however, will never have Gunslinger's respect or acquiescence.
  • Extremely strong moral system; inflexible to a fault:
    • Stealing and thievery of excess, riches, and even just more than what someone needs to survive is okay; pillaging a person to desolation is not. Pilaging a place to destruction is okay -- e.g., Nerentines pirates.
    • Killing for a good cause/defense is okay; murder is never okay -- e.g., nothing wrong with killing her stalker "ex."
    • Caveat: killing the very young, pregnant women, the old, and the infirm is never okay -- e.g., anyone who was missing a leg would be very wrong to kill to Gunslinger (p.s. -- this is also likely to be a bias).
    • Anything in the name of self-preservation -- e.g., sleeping with Vasco on the Era Nero in the first place just to to gain his ear, and continuing to sleep with him following gaining her freedom.
    • Fiercely loyal to her chosen group; bloodthirsty and ruthless to those beyond it. Harming one of your own is unforgivable; walking away from one of your own is unforgivable -- e.g., while it was also a simple matter of preservation, she considered herself a member of the Era Nero crew and owed her salvation to Remus Vasco, she felt extremely conflicted about denying him sex. He'd saved her life, and her interactions with Remus seemed to Gunslinger part of the debt she owed to the Era Nero, its crew, and captain.
    • Leaders and laws that are absurd should be shirked, broken, and otherwise sabotaged on principle alone -- e.g., an authority figure trying to tell her never to leave the packlands or trying to give her orders to kill a child

  • 2009:
Born into Sobirat'sya. Her mother, Katja Molotov, bore Gunslinger and her siblings to Malenkij Russo of the Russo family. Their conception is accidental; Malenkij and Katja are both somewhat shamed by their birth, as they were not mates and had no plans to be -- added that there is a seven-year difference in their ages.
  • 2010:
Malenkij maintains a cordial relationship with their mother. Katja raised her children outside of the Sobirat'sya Russo home; nonetheless, the children were frequent visitors, and are familiar with their family's heritage and history. Katja loved her children very dearly; when they were just under a year old, she was considering taking them to the New World, and filled their heads with stories. Before she can depart, however, Malenkij takes over as the Patriarch of the Russo family. Katja decides to stick around thereafter and tries to wheedle into Malenkij's life a little more persistently. While she is tolerated around the Russo compound, she isn't anything special to Malenkij. Their friendship becomes strained.
  • 2010-2011:
Gunslinger works on one of the Russo ships for two summers. She finds the work excessively hard and harsh, but as with many of the other Russo sailors, she shuts her mouth and does her job.
  • 2011-2013:
In spring of 2011, Gunslinger departs. She spends a considerable amount of time in the Mediterranean -- specifically, the Adriatic Sea and the Croatian Coast. She falls in with the Narentines?, a group of river and coast pirates. Although Gunslinger is an average and indifferent sailor, she does her share and maintains an average standing within the group. She ceases sailing and pirating rather quickly and begins to learn the art of carpentry and building ships. Her friends during this period of time are a trio of Russian canines -- brothers Maksian and Zadov Nachesa and Nadej Zakarii. The Nachesa siblings are from the south of Russia, and are somewhat foreign to her -- but she bonds with Nadej closely, as the woman was from the far north as well. Nadej and Zadov are eventually sent away to another port of the Narentines, who never liked keeping too many carpenters in one place.
  • February 2013:
Raiders decimated the Narentine village where she worked. Most of the men are killed. Gunslinger and a few other women -- all locals, and not Narentines -- were added to a larger number of various slaves being carried across the Mediterranean as captives. When the ship tried to offload its cargo at Athens, Gunslinger and the other slaves from her village were rejected -- too close to home, Athenian buyers shirked at the thought of escapees. The raiders were forced to trade at a lowered price, enticing enough to at least one ship's captain. The ship was the Italian Era Nero, the captain Ricche Nero, and the crew eclectic and worldly.
  • March 2013:
Gunslinger and the other captives boarded the Era Nero, bound for Barcelona, Lisbon, Barbados, and finally Freetown. When Gunslinger was able to convince a sympathetic (and seduced) sailor Remus Vasco that she was skilled in the ways of ships, she was freed to work the cost of her life (and then some). Gunslinger found she did not much mind the work; it helped to look at the other slaves still below the ship's decks and remind herself of the luck in her fate. In Barcelona, she acquires Iskra, a Barbary macaque, through a gambling game with another sailor in port. The monkey is very young, barely old enough to be separated from its mother; it imprints heavily on Gunslinger and follows her around the ship incessantly.
  • March - September 2013:
Stopping in Lisbon and offloading the slaves, the Era Nero takes on cargo, passengers, and fresher slaves. Remus Vasco makes his intents of continuing his physical relationship with Gunslinger known once they are safely out to sea. Gunslinger accepts this primarily out of a sense of debt; she also fears Remus will make her life difficult, or possibly kill her, aboard the small ship. She is also self-blames somewhat; she did seduce him at first, even if it was an act of desperation and to save her life. Gunslinger never gives indication to Remus that she enjoys their encounters, nor does she return his affections. It is at first very difficult for the woman to accept what Remus is doing to her; as the months wear on, however, she becomes less and less affected.
  • September 2013:
When the Era Nero lands in Freetown, Ricche says Gunslinger's debt is paid. Though he wants Gunslinger to carry on, the woman refused him flatly and coldly. Remus Vasco announces he, too, will stay on this new continent, and without surprise from the crew (including his half-brother Remo). Gunslinger, on the other hand, is very surprised, and tries to part ways with him again once ashore. He refuses and professes to want to become her mate, give her babies, and settle down right here in Freetown (basically a fall to his knees in the mud of the port kind of thing). Gunslinger says no and explains to him her thinking (e.g., the debt is paid, I don't have to sleep with you anymore, etc.). He goes slack-jawed, she leaves him there.
  • November 2013:
Gunslinger avoids the crew for the month and a half they are within Freetown, settling into a house to the south and west. When she hears the crew of the Nero Era has departed, she returns to Freetown, giving the small port town its first proper look. When she returns to her home, Remus follows her back, of course. Their confrontation this time is more violent, and ceases only when Casimir Kovachev splits the pair. He and another of the Svantevit pack escort the pair north to Freetown and dump them there. Freetown's response is essentially, "lol you're outsiders, who cares." A vodoo woman seemingly takes pity on Gunslinger and tends to the woman's wounds. Neither Gunslinger or Remus is seriously injured, but both are bloodied.
  • December 2013:
A second interaction with Remus results in his death. Even among the Narentines, who did kill and kill frequently, Gunslinger only fought with others a few times; she believes she killed one man, but is not certain. Nonetheless, she is prepared for Remus's return. With an advantage in weight and height, plus a knife she traded some carpentry work for within Freetown, Gunslinger dispatches the man. She "awakens" a brief time later, and finds she has stabbed Remus many more times than she intended. Fearing reprisal from Freetown, she heads north.
  • January 2014 - May 2014:
After leaving Freetown, Gunslinger travels around for a few months before coming to Nova Scotia. She travels south and investigates the area, eventually coming across crashed sailor Aindrea Donovan. They talk about her fixing his ship and eventually Gunslinger leaves, unhappy with his trading offers.
  • June 2014 - July 2014:
Gunslinger meets Lucille and the dog offers Gunslinger a place in their small traveling group. Gunslinger joins them and eventually helps found the pack Krokar.
  • June 2015 - March 2015:
Gunslinger leaves Krokar and heads back to the Outpost. After reaching the Outpost she hops on a boat and heads back to Europe, aiming to make her way back to her birthplace.
