Galilee Haskel is the daughter of Skoll Haskel, born in Cour des Miracles.

When she was a few months old, her mother Aurelya Shandara went missing, the catalyst for a subtle change in Galilee. Witnessing her father nearly throw his life away, and dealing with the aftermath of his overprotective tendencies, Lee quietly resolved to chase opportunity and become the best person and warrior she could be. Following her first shift, her relationship with her father improved as he allowed her much-needed independence; he became her foremost fighting instructor. Lee also pursued another unique relationship: one with the dolphins that swam along the Kingdom's coast.

Galilee participated in the Winter of Tarnished Gold as a rebel, and became one of Reine Kalypso Savoy's first supporters. She later became a big sister to Oberyn and Issola.

When Cour des Miracles disbanded in the wake of La Marea's assaults, Galilee remained with her family in the Petite Cour until the remnants, too, dispersed. Wandering without structure, partying and getting into scraps, Lee had a chance meeting with another loner that led her to join The Troupe, where she serves as a guard.

OOC Assumptions

Troupe members may assume and reference the following without discussion/asking:

  • General conversations (i.e. unlikely to affect later roleplay) -- Galilee is friendly, casual, and sometimes obnoxious.
  • She can usually be found on the beach. She'll gladly be someone's swimming or sparring partner there!
  • Occasionally she'll bring a "lady friend" somewhere she isn't supposed to. Shield your eyes.

1.  Appearance

1.1  Basics

Physical

  • General Description:
A high-content wolfdog, Galilee most resembles a timber wolf in build, with little indication of dog heritage but for her thick coat's rich color. Her facial features are softer than one would expect, however, with a long demure muzzle, wide eyes, and proportionally large ears. Her pretty face is home to large teeth, which are often on display.
  • Optime Hair: She inherited her father's thick, wild hair. It tumbles in great waves around her shoulders when it's down, which is rare. Lee almost always has her hair in a high ponytail, with bouncy, sideswept bangs.
  • Build, Size, and Forms:
Galilee is tall, lean, and sinewy -- her height and athletic build usually what one first notices. She has broad shoulders and long limbs, with compact musculature like her mother. Only a hint of femininity softens her sharp angles; she has a rectangular body type. Overall, she is built for endurance.
  • Lupus: 35 in (89 cm) ↔ 90 lbs (41 kg)
  • Secui: 46 in (117 cm) ↔ 150 lb (68 kg)
  • Optime: 6ft 10in (82 in) (208 cm) ↔ 220 lb (104.5 kg)

1.2  Miscellaneous

Interaction

  • Speech: Low-toned for a woman, naturally husky. Lee speaks very casually and confidently. Bilingual, she often peppers French words into conversation without rhyme or reason; it wouldn't be unusual for her to say "bonjour, dude."
  • Scent: Sea-salt and sun-baked sand, marsh and moorland, dogwood and ryegrass, blood and dirt; Haskel, The Troupe
  • Physical Expression and Quirks:
    • Her posture is generally alert and self-confident, with pricked ears and waving tail. She tries to look slouchy and easygoing, especially in Optime, but always gives the impression she's ready to move. Basically stands like a fighter ready to "go."
    • Physically affectionate -- through punches to the arm, elbow or shoulder nudges, headbutts... (Pretty ladies get friendly, gentle pats or brisk little back-scratches.)
    • Her default expression is a Cheshire Cat Grin that sometimes veers into The Unsmile. She has big ol' sharky teeth.

Adornments

Galilee shifts often and dislikes constricting clothing, so it takes a special occasion (and someone to wrangle her into something) for her to dress. She does have a necklace she always wears, however.

  • Star pendant necklace, silver hanging from a gold bauble, lined with polished bone beads resembling pearls
  • Twine or leather hair-tie, kept on wrist if not in use; often replaced

2.  Personality

2.1  Summary

Raised by proud, competent, and sometimes foolhardy parents, Galilee has inherited the best and worst of their traits. She is spontaneous and fun-loving, generally upbeat and willing to treat everyone as a friend; she is charismatic in a goofy and genuine way. However, she can also be hot-headed and rash, over-indulgent, and boastful; others might find her coarse in her behavior and choices. Paradoxically, Lee is often too concerned about the opinions of those she admires, and may be stricken by social anxiety at the most inopportune times.

While generally accepting of everyone, Lee has no tolerance for bullies and is stubborn in her negative judgments of others. Determined against unrealistic odds, she often bites off more than she can chew fighting against injustices. Her "good versus evil" view of the world leaves little room for nuance.

2.2  Traits

2.3  Details

Interests

  • Likes: Fighting and rough-housing, the ocean, swimming, dolphins, food (venison, fish), beer, pretty girls, girls who can kick her ass, games and fun company, nice horses
  • Dislikes: Boredom and loneliness, judgment, bullies and cruelty, routine, snobs

Sexuality

Galilee is a big ol' lesbian. After shyly pining for pretty (presumably straight) girls in her youth, Lee has since become more straightforward with what she likes, and will take female attentions where she can get it: brief emotional flings, one-night-stands, whatever. That said, while she flirts shamelessly, she rarely makes the first move -- worried, thanks to some previous hurtful experiences, at being perceived and stereotyped as "predatory" in her intentions.

Whether a quick dalliance or committed relationship, Lee gives her all to her partners and wants them to be happy; she also tends to be worried about what they think about her. With a tendency to take things at face value, she may miss or simplify her partners' subtle feelings.

Spirituality

Galilee was raised on Biblical stories and taught ideals such as good and evil, redemption and sin, by her father. She still believes vaguely in the Abrahamic god, but she doesn't put much stock in her dad's Catholic guilt; God should be chill. She has strongly embraced the need to do "good" in the world and help the downtrodden.

Vices

  • Substances: Lee enjoys and prefers drinking socially, especially because it bolsters her mood and confidence. Used to piss-poor beer, she can easily surpass her limits given something harder. She doesn't entertain other substances like tobacco or marijuana; smoking hurts!
  • Biases: Her father is infamously prejudiced against coyotes and jackals, but while Lee carelessly teases them (e.g., with epithets like "bushytail"), she doesn't personally take stock in prejudiced beliefs. (Dad might be right about those jackals, though...)

3.  Relationships

3.1  Family

  • Extended: Galilee has some relatives through the Haskel and Catori bloodlines, though she is only aware of her link to her father's siblings and niece. She views the Sadira-Stormbringers as honorary family, having grown up around or been raised by several of them.
  • Skoll Haskel is Lee's father, the single most important figure in her life. She is undoubtedly daddy's girl and has inherited many of Skoll's traits; these similarities frequently cause them to butt heads. She has defied Skoll's overprotective tendencies, but at the same time, she's worried something will happen to her dad.
  • Aurelya Shandara, her mother, went missing when she was a child -- a loss that affected her father terribly. Lee has no idea if her mother is dead or alive, if she got lost or abandoned the family, etc. She tries not to think about her mom.
  • Oberyn and Issola are her younger half-siblings. While she initially saw their conception as a betrayal, she was ecstatic to be a big sister once they were born. She was a doting and protective sibling, but also encouraged their antics. She was saddened by their departure, but understood they wanted to find their own way.

3.2  Other Relations

Notable Relations

  • Tink left an impact on Galilee, though she is a mysterious woman. Lee rescued her from a blizzard by chance, and got the impression she was in trouble with her wife. Lee bristles to do something about this, but she's in over her head.
  • Jethro Lykoi was the first Troupe member Galilee met -- at a fighting club where they beat each other up. She just wants Jeff to think she's cool, because she thinks he's cool. Having seen some warning signs that remind her of her father's moodiness, she keeps an eye out for him when she can.
  • While she doesn't know her well (arguably, no one does), Lee is protective of Indis. She came to bat for her when Indis violently acted out against some loners, proving her tendency to believe the best of people.
  • Galilee likes everyone in The Troupe and wants them to like her! Her opinions are largely superficial until she gets to know them well, based on first impressions. Many of the boys are treated like cousins she can roughhouse with, while she admires the older folk, and enjoys teasing the ladies. She can come across as intense or eager-to-please, but she would defend her companions fiercely.
  • Kalypso Savoy was Galilee's leader at the end of the Court's reign. Lee was one of her first supporters, admiring her for taking charge, and felt acknowledged and supported by Kalypso in turn.

Past Relations

  • Shiloh Dawnbringer babysat Lee when she was little, and later helped tutor her in staff fighting. She held great admiration for the woman, often going to her for advice she couldn't ask of her father. Her death was a terrible blow.
  • Lee saw Silvano Sadira as her father's friend before she saw him as king, which was cause for some friendly insubordination. However, she admired and trained with him before his fall from grace, which has darkened her memory of him.
  • Dreyma Moineau was someone Lee admired growing up -- until her father fell for her. Galilee thought that Dreyma was trying to replace her mother, failing to see how complex and unwanted the situation was. Her careless words led Dreyma to abandon the pack and her children.
  • Galilee had a big crush on Odalis when she lived in the Court; she was beautiful, alluring, mature, cool -- so starstruck Lee thought. She was kidnapped, and Lee believes she might be dead.

4.  Assets

4.1  Skills

Key: Dabbler --> Apprentice --> Journeyman --> Master

Main Focus: Brawler

  • Combat (Feral) (Journeyman):
In a serious situation, Galilee is most comfortable fighting in her Lupus or Secui form, thanks to strong instincts and practice from a young age. She is an aggressive fighter, making use of her above-average size to knock down opponents, and her big teeth to deal deadly damage. Her natural endurance helps her outlast most foes until they slip up; she is frequently on the offensive to help wear them down.
  • Combat (Hand-to-Hand, Wrestling) (Journeyman):
Lee loves to brawl! She uses her height and long arms to her advantage, keeping opponents out of her space. While she doesn't know any fancy techniques, she will unashamedly fight dirty, and use punches, grapples, kicks, and regular ol' claws and teeth to win fights. However, she hasn't fought in high-stakes combat in a long time; she would hesitate going for a killing or crippling blow in this form.
  • Combat (Spear) (Journeyman/Apprentice):
Lee was taught the basics of spear-fighting by her father and built on this knowledge by sparring with other skilled combatants. She takes advantage of her already long reach to keep opponents at bay, and utilizes staff-fighting flourishes that Shiloh taught her to keep others on their toes. Unfortunately, lack of continued practice has made her rusty.

Auxiliary Skills and Hobbies

  • Swimming (Master):
Galilee is a strong swimmer, having grown up on the Shattered Coast. Much of this is due to physical traits, such as her strength, endurance, and lung capacity -- but she also has strong knowledge of tides and dangerous undercurrents. Having a dolphin as a teacher helped.
  • Hunting and Fishing (Master):
Lee is an adept hunter of medium-to-large prey, utilizing traditional feral hunting tactics. Her coordination with others in a group hunt is strong, and her high level of endurance allows her to wear down prey. She also frequently fishes: chomping down or grabbing ones that swim past, stabbing them with a spear, or using coordinated efforts to herd them into nets. (Pole fishing is boring.)
  • High Speech (Dolphin Dialect) (Apprentice):
Hours spent practicing going eeee-eee-ee with Hurley have granted her rudimentary understanding of this otherwise completely useless language dialect. She understands dolphin calls better than she can replicate them. Maybe that's helpful?
  • Literacy (Apprentice):
Her father read to her quite a bit when she was little, so she got her hands on storybooks once she could shift. She quickly found that reading wasn't as fun as being read to, but she has retained knowledge and can fumble through most texts. She cannot write, however.

4.2  Residence

Galilee lives in and around the Great Village schoolhouse with the rest of The Troupe; they have a communal sleeping room and some places for storage. Lee can just as commonly be found outside on clear nights, sleeping under the stars or keeping an eye out for trouble.

4.3  Trade

Galilee knows nothing about trade or value; she's easily duped, but she's also stubborn about things she wants versus those she doesn't want. With little need for material possessions, she usually trades for consumables or on the behalf of others.

  • Offering: Raw prey (meat or fish), bodyguard duty, her fists
  • Accepting: Alcohol, useful things for The Troupe (smokes, medicine, materials)
