Essentials

  • Species: Finch is a leggy brown timber wolf with reddish-brown eyes.
  • Fur: Her fur is dense but unusually short, hugging her body and giving her an almost bony appearance.
  • Facial Features: She has a sinewy and tough build from travel. Her long legs make her appear taller than she is, though she's of average height for a female.
  • Build and Size: Finch has thin, pointed features.
  • Humanization: She has a flower scarification and wears an assortment of goods on her person.

Coloration

  • Fur:
    • Cocoa Brown (#2C2520) is her main fur color.

1.2  Miscellaneous

Modifications

  • Scars:
    • Old broken leg that has since healed; gives her a faint limp.
    • Scarification of a nightshade flower on lower back.
    • Several scars are hidden within her dense fur; only the most severe are visible upon close inspection.
  • Piercings:
    • Twice in her left ear.

Adornments

As a trader, Finch prefers to display her wares on her person rather than carry a bag.

Jewelry and Accessories

  • Frithr necklace.
  • Two gold rings in her left ear.
  • A tiny glass vial on a cord around her neck; contains plant toxins.
  • Leather belt studded with seashells; for her personal weapons.
  • Various accessories for trade include:
    • Bracelets, anklets, and necklaces; made out of anything from simple cord to tarnished gold.
    • Leather sheathes for various weapons, usually swapped out for each other.

Clothing

  • It is a point of note that Finch never wears clothing, finding it strange and confining. She may, however, wear a loose cloak.

Forms

80 lbs (36 kg)
30 in (76 cm)

Lupus

Finch appears to be an average if long-legged wolf. She is the most comfortable in this form, as a Luperci Verto, and prefers it for leisure.

135 lb (61 kg)
38 in (96.5 cm)

Secui

Her hardy body shape is most apparent in this form, even hidden by thick fur. She prefers this form for travel and protection against harsh, cold weather.

210 lbs (95 kg)
6ft 2in (74 in) (188 cm)

Optime

Finch is leggy and almost bony, though with muscle. She carries herself with more weight in her thighs than a Luperci Ortus. Her hair is styled in various ways, fading from her darkest color to her lightest.

Interaction

  • Speech:
    • Low but feminine.
    • Smooth and calm, if occasionally absent of emotion.
  • Scent:
    • Vinátta scent: salt, pine needles, wood shavings.
    • Foresty scent like musk and leaves, leather, metal, poisonous plants.
  • General Posture and Body Language: Finch carries herself more dominant than she is, with a fearless air and tall posture. She has a confident gait but hides a limp from an old broken leg.

2.  Personality

Finch is an aloof soul. She is cold around strangers and very secretive, hiding anything that she regards as a weakness -- while cunningly searching for weakness in others. Years as a trader have given her a keen eye for reading emotions, though she hides her perceptive nature in order to keep this as an advantage. It takes a lot for others to gain her trust and get her to open up.

Born non-Luperci, some of her mannerisms and beliefs are at odds with the Luperci around her. She is not as feral as her brother, mostly thanks to her time as a trader, but still relies on body language and show her aggression in feral ways. At the same time, however, she is a hypocrite in her supposed belief that "Luperci stuff" is odd -- considering she peddles it and uses Luperci weapons and poisons.

Underneath an aloof facade, Finch is a dreamer with a gypsy soul, prone to wandering. She is loyal to a fault toward those who've won her trust and respect, as well as immensely caring for those weaker than herself.

2.1  Ideals

Biases

  • Species: No bias, but more familiar with wolves.
  • Gender: Wary of males, though won't always show it.
  • Non-Luperci: Fond of non-Luperci, and quick to jump to their defense. She finds humanization odd but is a bit hypocritical in this.
  • Age: Soft spot for puppies; respectful and protective of the weak and old.

  • Heterosexual
  • Her fear of males keeps her from exploring her sexuality and romance.

  • Rejects all substances; calls them "Luperci corruption."

  • Might eventually convert to Vinátta's Norse paganism.

3.  Relationships

3.1  Family: Moineau

  • Extended: Her relations through the Moineau family include some distant cousins in her own pack (Chloé and Dreyma, as well as more cousins that he does not know about -- including Vesper of Inferni.

3.2  Relations

Key Relations

  • Chloé Moineau is Finch's much-loved cousin and dear friend. The pair used to live together until Finch decided to move out to be on her own. Despite this, their relationship is still solid and she thinks of Chloé with fondness.
  • Thyri Dawnbringer is Finch's herblore apprentice. After months of steady training and successful lessons, her affection for Shiloh's daughter has grown and Finch has found she doesn't mind Thyri's company. The pair are often seen together, usually around the Communal Garden.

Positive Relations

  • Jérôme Moineau is Finch's brother, who she thought to be lost until she joined Vinátta. Though their ideals are similar, their goals and motivations differ enough that they don't always agree. Despite this, Finch loves her brother and wants for him to be happy.

4.  Skills and Inventory

4.1  Abilities

Strengths

  • Herb-lore: Finch was mentored extensively in herb-lore and specializes in the extraction of poison from plants. She knows the properties of most deadly plants, as well as some useful healing ones. She wants to learn more about the latter now that she's settled in Vinátta, using plants to heal instead of kill.
  • Crafting: Finch can craft jewelry and weapons from materials such as bone, antler, stone, and wood. She cannot make metal from scratch, but she is creative in finding ways to mend old metal things.
  • Fighting: While not an expert fighter, she can defend herself with ferocity. She prefers to fight with savage strength, tooth and claw -- and the occasional supplementation of a brass-knuckled punch.
  • Trading: Finch trades most of what she crafts away for raw materials, food, and herbs. A good judge of others' emotions, she can haggle very well in her favor.

Weaknesses

  • Finch can have a self centered, hypocritical nature. She creates "blind spots" that, in her mind, exclude her from her own judgment. This can make her logic seem flawed.
  • Though good at hiding other emotions, her quick temper often gets her into trouble.
  • Her formerly broken leg affects her speed and stamina. As a result, she is not a very successful hunter.

4.2  Inventory

Trade

  • Assorted scavenged or crafted jewelry
    • Materials: Tarnished metal like gold, silver; seashells, feathers; leather, cord, rope, sinew; a few precious stones, usually pried from old jewelry and set in new.
    • Types: Necklaces, rings, anklets, bands, bangles, hair clips, headdresses, etc.
  • Assorted weaponry
    • Materials: Bone and antler; some stone, with wood hilts; scavenged metal.
    • Types: Daggers and several variations of size and use; two steel throwing knives.
  • Some poisons, usually by request.

Personal

  • Frithr necklace
  • Two gold earrings
  • Assortment of poisons and dried palnts
  • Small glass vial on leather cord; contains poisons
  • Leather waist belt studded with seashells -- has two knife sheaths and leather pouches on either side.
  • Bone dagger
  • Brass knuckles

5.  History

Timeline

2009

  • August: Jérôme and Finch are born to parents Wren Moineau and Corentin. They live as non-Luperci in Mer Bleue.
  • December: An especially rough winter decimates the prey population.

2010

  • January: A period of famine drives Corentin, the father, to take more risks hunting; a moose kills him. A small pack pities the family and allows them to accompany them on a search for more bountiful territories.
  • March: The pack splits when spring does not bring much more food. Wren takes her children further south.
  • May: Wren meets up with her sister, Summer Moineau, and stays with her pack until autumn.
  • September: Summer dies of an illness that nearly claims Jérôme's life as well. Wren takes him and Finch away again, although the two have become independent yearlings. They continue to travel with their mother.

2011

  • February: Jérôme decides to strike out on his own as an adult. Finch travels on her own for a while, though she grows lonely and pursues her brother again.
  • April: Finch catches up with Jérôme, asking to join him as they travel. He agrees, and they strike out together for new lands.
  • May: The siblings have a falling out over their destination. Jérôme is searching for a purpose in life, while Finch is merely content to travel and see the world. When Jérôme takes too long looking for packs and settlements, Finch wanders onward.
  • October: Finch reunites with her brother again near Mer Bleue, their old home.
  • November: A mountain lion spooks Finch, who disrupts unsteady rocks and takes a tumble with the landslide. Finch injures her leg in the fall, and the mountain lion -- also frightened and hurt -- attacks the siblings. A nearby non-Luperci pack drives the mountain lion away and offers Jérôme and Finch a home for as long as they wish to stay.
  • December: Jérôme and Finch decide to stay with the pack until Finch is fully healed. They adjust to pack life.

2012

  • January: A cluster of former non-Luperci desiring revenge, the Ironside Coalition, poach on pack lands. Jérôme assures a frightened Finch that he will protect her.
  • February: An Ironside wolf (thought later to be Stein) attacks Finch in the woods, setting back her healing.
  • March: The Ironside Coalition kills the pack alphas and decimate most of the pack. Finch and a few others manage to escape, though Finch believes her brother is dead. She tracks the Coalition to avenge her brother.
  • April: The Ironside wolves realize Finch is following them. Jáskrim, Cavan, and Stein violently beat her; Skrim threatens to rape her. Before they can kill her or worse, an older female wolf -- Carmen -- fights them off. She takes Finch in to heal her injuries, though a few days later Finch shifts.
  • June: Finch's injuries heal at a steady pace. She accustoms herself to life as a Luperci with only a little difficulty, aided by Carmen.
  • August: Carmen starts teaching Finch herb-lore and crafting. Finch takes particular interest in the making of toxins and various carvings. She accompanies Carmen as she trades handmade crafts and weaponry.

2013

  • February: Finch trades a set of bone daggers for the scarification of a nightshade flower.
  • May: Carmen falls ill and passes away. She buries the old she wolf and follows rumors toward eastern Canada, still looking for the wolves who she believes killed her brother.
  • June: Finch arrives in New Brunswick and joins Vinátta. She settles in well, trading with her new pack mates and discovering a cousin, Chloé Moineau, who moves in with her. Late in the month, however, her home is threatened by familiar enemies as the Ironside Conflict begins. She discovers that her brother, Jérôme, has also joined Vinátta; they emotionally reunite. Finch supports the pack against the Ironside Coalition with her trades, crafting weaponry and finding herbs for the fighters. At last, the Ironside Coalition is wiped out.
  • July: Finch continues to work to support Vinátta, crafting weaponry and trading for more supplies, as well as befriending new pack mates. Her relationship with her brother is a little awkward due to the time passed, but still amicable, and though she has moved out and on her own, her relationship with cousin Chloé grows stronger.

2014

  • July: Jérôme, suffering for seasons now with his unrequited love for Shiloh, makes the prompt decision to leave Vinátta so he can fulfill his own life. Finch remains in Vinátta despite her brother's decision.

2015

  • May: Knowing her skills with herblore, Thyri seeks Finch out and requests lessons from her. Finch agrees to teach the girl. She suggests that Thyri start collecting plants for easier reference, thus beginning a months-long project for the youth.
  • August: With Thyri's near-constant presence, Finch's affection for her flourishes and a strengthening relationship begins to take root.
  • November: Finch helps Thyri make bracelets and wreaths for the annual Winternights festival from various materials she found throughout the territory. Afterwards, she agrees to accompany Thyri to the celebration.
