Beckett Moineau is the son of Kizzie Horne and Howell Frost, born in Mer Bleue. His family's only son (Kennedy's nature unbeknownst to them), Beckett has developed a rather neurotic nature. Kizzie insisted that he prepare to become the "man of the family," while Howell, doting mainly on Sophie, offers little help.

Becoming increasingly anxious to achieve the idealistic image, Beckett is soothed only by his sisters: quiet, thoughtful Sophie; dependent but swooning Rose; and his playful, fiery older sister Lou, who became fond of him and pestered him to "live a little."

Once he and his littermates reached of age, the three siblings left their home to strike out on their own. After a falling out between Rose and Sophie, the trio split apart—but Beckett stayed with Rose. He yearned to fulfill the position of a protector and provider, to live up to his mother's rigid expectations and to gain his father's absent approval. Seeing his sister's naiveté and femininity as weaknesses for a male to safeguard, he was quick to assume the mantle.

1.  Appearance

1.1  Basics

Essentials

  • Species: Beckett looks coyote through-and-through except for his long legs—and doggish mannerisms. His height and build is atypical of the purebred example, being larger and broader than most of his coyote peers, and it may lead one to suspect minor hybridization.
  • Fur: Beckett's fur is short but thick, padded with a double-coat. It is often tousled and rarely ever found straight and immaculate. It is not unusual to see his pelt riddled with earthly debris until his sister gets a hold of him. Beckett's design is mostly an uniform dusty coloration aside from his dark left foreleg.
    • Optime Hair: —
  • Facial Features: Beckett's ears are average-sized but coyote-shaped, his muzzle is short and narrow. His eyes are large, owlish and wide, and his brows are always drawn as if he is perpetually worried.
  • Build and Size: He is larger than the typical coyote, sizing up to most wolves in comparison. His legs are long for his body, but his compact build does not betray a spindly appearance. Beckett is solid and far from skinny—pushing himself to be a survivor and provider, he has gathered a sizable mass. Broad-shouldered and sturdy on his paws.
    • Lupus: 30 in (76 cm) — 70 lb (32 kg)
  • Humanization: Very low—due to his non-Luperci upbringing, the need for human mannerisms and accessorization is lost to him and he prefers a "feral" expression.

Interaction

  • Speech: Quiet and soft, Beckett is not a loud individual. However, he will try to be the dominant one in the conversation, especially with females and younger individuals. It is difficult for him to speak casually without it sounding forced, and is rarely anything but direct and blunt.
  • Scent: His personal scent is a mix of forest musks—pine, freshwater, muddy earth, and woodland creatures. Additionally smells of Inferni and Moineau.
  • Quirks, Gestures, Etc.: Prone to staring blankly into space when in thought and at individuals when in conversation—his large, owlish eyes can be unnerving to some. His ears and tail are expressive and telling of his mood; he has the habit of curling his tail in a doggish manner when riled.
  • General Posture and Body Language: Beckett stands tall and straight, and sees slouching as a sign of weakness. He has dominant body language, and a trained eye can see his attempts at enforcing quiet authority. He has a doggish gait and never seems to cease in movement—he can come off as fidgety and nervous.

  • Having to become dependent on others; weakness
  • Rejection and ostracization from close ones

Biases

  • Non-Luperci: A non-Luperci himself, Beckett is at most ease among others of his standing. He sees humanization as an unneeded, unnatural advancement, but doesn't involve himself others' lifestyles as long as they don't enforce anything on him.
  • Gender: Carries traditionalist, misogynist views—the strong male protects and provides for the pack, the weak female stays at home and nurtures the young, etc. Due to his sensitive masculinity, he can be confrontational and forceful about his opinions.
  • Sexuality: Disapproving of anything that is deviant from "normal" male-female pairings, especially male-male couplings. Neutral towards promiscuous men, but disproves flirtatious women.
  • Age: Thinks that the young and the old need protection—is very patronizing towards the latter and will innocently treat them as senile.

Sexuality

  • Very quiet about his sexuality, Beckett desires a monogamous mateship with a female
  • Appears to be a romantic idealist, but never flirts and becomes awkward when faced with affection

Spirituality

  • Atheist
  • Has little interest in creation theories or governed morality—believes one should focus on survival
  • Disapproves preaching and dogma

3.  Relationships

3.1  Family

  • Extended: Beckett has distant relatives through the Moineau family. His closest relatives in Nova Scotia are his great-aunts' children, such as Finch Moineau, while the other branch of the Moineau family includes the 'Souls leaders Vesper and Nivosus Moineau.
  • Kizzie Horne: Beckett's mother—a somewhat feeble, traditionalist female who raised her younger children with her expectations. Beckett was sensitive to her lessons and he seeks to fulfill the ideal image she made for him. He feels he was closest to his mother out of his parents.
  • Howell Frost: Beckett's father. He was quiet, kind, and fair—but he doted mainly on Sophie. Beckett was distant from his father, who offered no guidance on how to become the "man of the family." Nevertheless Beckett desired his approval, believing he had to prove his worth for his father's love as a man.
  • Lou Frost: Beckett's sister. The older female became fond of the neurotic boy and often pestered him to "live a little." Beckett says he is unsure of what to think of the fiery woman, but he secretly treasures the moments they had together. He tries to heed Lou's advice and she is his motivation to find peace and purpose within himself. His masculinity complex rivals this greatly, however.
  • Rose Frost: Beckett's sister. Rose often drove a rift between her siblings, especially Lou, but Beck is undoubtedly supportive of her. He sees her feminine nature as a weakness, but seeks to safeguard it. He fits the role of the protective older brother—and he takes this role seriously.
  • Sophie Horne: Beckett's sister. The two share a quiet nature and he felt closest to her when they were children. However, when Sophie and Rose had a falling out, he chose to stay with Rose. Beckett believes Sophie to be the "stronger" of the two sisters and trusts in her intelligence, though he is capable of patronizing her even then.
