1.  Appearance

Anessa bears the physical characteristics of a typical female arctic wolf. Her fur, in the winter, is plush and white with hardly any impurities. In the spring, however, her coat thins out, revealing select patches of slightly darker fur. Her eyes are a rich golden color, which shine like honey in proper sunlight. Being an arctic wolf, Anessa's frame remains small even in her Optime form: she stands at only 5 feet 2 inches, although she never lets this trait get her down. Weighing in at only 145 pounds, her small frame is also rather slim and understandably athletic.

While her appearance is generally typical of a wolf of her species and sex, Anessa does express a few physical quirks. As a result of a nasty conflict in her past, Anessa is missing a portion of her tail. At first, she found this to be an embarrassing hindrance, but now she sees it as a badge of honor. Anessa regards her various scars in much the same way. The largest scars are located on her thighs and back, and they do indeed disrupt the normal flow of her fur.

In Optime, Anessa allows her thick mane of white fur to hang loosely--she has no desire to adopt a more civilized appearance. As such, she normally does not wear any clothing in Optime aside from her favorite necklace. This necklace is a simple leather cord strung with blue beads and hawk feathers. At times, Anessa may feel compelled to adorn her mane with wild flowers and fungi.

2.  Personality

Perhaps it is because of her violent past that Anessa is so withdrawn. However, "withdrawn" does not imply "rude" or "icy"; although she prefers to be alone, Anessa is actually quite kindhearted. She takes great pride in her ability to read the personality's and intentions of others, while also managing to keep herself on the correct path. It wouldn't be unlike Anessa to stop in her path to bring aide to a fallen ally, or even a wounded critter.

Someone wouldn't be incorrect in describing Anessa as a quiet soul, whose eyes seem to convey an unfulfilled longing. Anessa, although she is very good at isolating herself, is embarked on an endless, private search for someone to complete her. She is, in other words, lonely. This loneliness is an easily identifiable trait, given the way she gazes, speaks, and holds herself.

Anessa's greatest fault lies in her lack of care for herself. When in the heat of the moment, she is quick to make rash decisions without considering the consequences. This is especially true when someone she cares for is faced with danger. The way she sees things, her life is secondary to the lives of those around her. Undoubtedly, this is why her body is littered with scars. However, it's this reckless loyalty that drives her to find a cause to pledge herself.

3.  History

Anessa was born into a litter of three other females. All four sisters were raised under the watchful eye of their mother--a Luperci--as they led lives as Loners wandering the lands of 'Souls. It was when Anessa's mother learned that she was pregnant that she migrated southward from the Arctic Circle into 'Souls' territory. What she wanted was for her daughters to live in a land of opportunity, and not have to struggle with the fierceness of the northern wilds--even if that meant risking their lives as Loners.

When Anessa was nearly a year old, she and her family had made a semi-permanent camp within the Frost Reaches. For her mother, it was familiar territory that reminded her of home, but without so much of the harshness and biting winds. Their existence there was happy, for a time. However, it was during the dead hours one night that the small family came under attack by a group of unknown assailants. Undoubtedly, these attackers were other Luperci, most likely making use of their Secui forms.

The family was scattered during the attack. Although the memory has been almost completely stuffed away, Anessa distinctly remembers tearing through the night on her own. At this point in her life, she spent the majority of her time in her Lupus form, as advised by her mother. Being young and so unused to shifting, Anessa had no time to shift into a higher form, or to even contemplate shifting. As a result, her assailant made contact. Anessa's tail was ripped apart, and her hindquarters were torn open by her attack's thick, vicious claws.

However, something went wrong. After making contact with her body, Anessa's assailant wandered off, leaving the young Lupus to suffer through her wounds alone. That night was the longest in Anessa's life. It was only in the morning when she found enough strength that Anessa began the arduous search for her family. Her mother's corpse was not far from where Anessa herself had been attacked. Her sisters, however, were no where to be found.

Anessa was certain that she would die, but it was because of her mother's strict survival training that she managed to pull through. Now, Anessa is still searching, but not necessarily for her sisters or for her attacker--for kinship with other Luperci, and for her own purpose.
